A friend and I did the same thing on the North Fork of the Stilly, except we were in a rubber raft and it was a tree instead of a bridge. We were both drowned------------------

You can get the full details on snopes.com. Search for tugboat or towboat. It happened a while back at Rooster Bridge on the Tombigbee River in southwest Alabama. The accounts of another tug captain and witness are on snopes.Oh, BTW, one area that most civilized Alabamians steer clear of is the land around the Tombigbee and Warrior Rivers. There be dragons there.
