For me it is the other people who LOVE the morning and try to make you LOVE it with them!"C'mon sleepy-head. It's wakey-upey time! It's a beautiful morning, the sun is shining AND THE BIRDS ARE SINGING! SMILE AND BE HAPPY, YAAAAAAAAY!!!"
"No. It's early. I didn't get enough sleep. Now leave me alone before I have to kill you!"

LOL! What is even worse is that some doctors will insist you have to get up early to live a normal healthy life. YOO-HOO? Doc? I work in the theatre industry. WTF is morning? My best sleep is often after 8 AM.Show of hands here, who has gone the longest without seeing a sunrise? (Staying up all night and catching it at the back end of the day doesn't count.) I have to disqualify myself because I had insomnia a couple of weeks back. There have been entire years when I might have seen one or two sunrises, max.

Lets see....I haven't seen one since I was in high school. About 3 1/2 years ago.

What do I hate the most about the mornings? The sun.Jerry, I don't have an accurate hour count, as I didn't realize those times I was about to enter the day that would never end, but I've had several that have tipped the 48 hour mark. (Something tells me that my 48 hour day is not going to end up being the record amongst the members here.) I too have gone months without seeing a sunrise, but am finding myself seeing more and more of them lately, right before I go to sleep after working all night. There's just something not right about walking out of a theater to see the sun rising.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: getting out of bed before 9:30am or so isn't a natural part of the human condition. It's a ritual which just sort of stuck, but just because it's conventional doesn't mean it isn't perverse. Those folks who can not only deal with it but actually thrive on it, well...welcome to planet earth I guess. As an aside, I went for a job interview a few days ago. It's a long story and most of the details aren't relevant to this thread, but the fact that the job involved starting work at 7am(!!!) 5 days a week with 12 hour shifts made it somewhat less than attractive. Don't get me wrong - there were other factors such as the lousy pay and downright ugly working conditions/environment which made the decision not to even consider it very easy, but waking up at 5am daily for so very little to look forward to is (insert expletive here).

Intellectually I love the morning. The crisp air, the dew on the grass, the birds chirping away. I love the way the sun is soft and the breezes gentle. Mornings remain special to me because I see so few of them. With West Coast television ending at 11:00 PM and the late night stuff, I rarely rise before 9:00 AM. My other problem with rising early is that my mouth is like cement and one eye is always glued shut in the morning.
I’m the early one in my household. The others wouldn’t rise before noon if they had a choice. This is odd because my parents rise at 5:30 AM every day.

What do I hate most about the mornings? Not being able to take a leak on account of "wood". I'm sleepy, my bladder is about to rupture and even my kidneys hurt. Maybe I'll have a tall urinal installed in my bathroom. Some other folks in Oklahoma had a much worse morning than mine today. At 7:30am some idiot driving a barge in the Arkansas River hit the I-40 bridge crossing and brought down a 400 foot section of the superhighway. Some cars and trucks went into the drink and several people are still missing (no fatalities at this point). Now, that's something to hate in the morning!

I rarely get up before 11AM, if I am lucky.

Then there are those of us who have no choice. High school is a bitch, perhaps the worst part is getting up in the morning. I have to be at my desk by 8:25 am. I get up at 7:30am. Am I glad I only live a block from the school. Then there is the issue of early morning practice, around 6:00 am. I REALLY hate those days.JJ

I usually like to get to bed by about midnight or so. Get to sleep around 12:30A or later depending on what's going on.... Yeah, morning "practice" can really take it outta ya, but then again, it's usually worth it....

Hi. Remember me?My job will be starting at 5AM this week and will be working for 12 hour shifts with TWICE the equipment that I had to operate in the past.
I hate my job, but am glad to have one right now. There are so many here out of work.
I would work at a local theatre, but what they offered made me laugh and walk.
More later....

Bobby, some morning you are going to be hunched over the commode trying to do your thing, and that damn tiolet seat will come down and smack you hard enough that you will want to cry.

My former morning aggravation: catching a 6:50AM bus to school, with the school day starting at 7:35AM. (I lived 10 miles away from my high school.) I never got 8 hours of sleep in a night, 7 hours would be about the maximum, with 6 hours being the standard. Thankfully, all that nonsense ceased nearly 6 years ago.My biggest morning aggravation recently: my cat, Kashmir.
Now mind you, I love that adorable orange fur-ball.
Somehow, that feline has it in his head that it is perfectly acceptable to wake me up after I've been asleep for only a few hours, as though he needs to be let outside (no litter box in the house!) - which I'd rather get out of bed, and let him out, than wake up later and find a little 'surprise'.
So to wake me up, he'll sit on me, with his two front paws right below my collarbone, and put most of his weight on his front paws, then rub his nose all over my face - not a particularly nice way to get jolted out of a dream. So I'll groggily get out of bed, and head over to the door to let him out - and the little bastard stops at the food bowl, and chows down, instead of strolling out the door!
...So then I pick him up and shove his fuzzy butt out the door -whether or not he actaully needs to go!
There are very few things for which I do not mind being woken from a deep snooze! (And a cat playing games isn't one of them!)

What do I hate most about the mornings?Arrive at the boathouse at 6:00am for an outing. It's cold, it's raining (though knowing my luck that'll be hail or snow before too long), I'm really not awake and now I have the opportunity to spend two hours killing myself just to ensure that I'm too physically exhausted to be manage the high speed cycle ride required to get to lectures on time.
Some other member of the crew wandrs over sleepily and declares:
"Didn't think much of that film last night."
The put together and watch through of the film took me three to four hours two nights before, the projection and take apart took a similar time the night before (if you can call it that as I've probably had about two hours sleep between leaving the booth and crawling down to the boathouse) and I spent the whole film that he didn't enjoy listening to the whirr of the projector and barely paying attention to the film, but I've got to be there to run the thing. He's had at least twice as much sleep as me if not three times so and he had a relaxed evening in the auditorium the night before not enjoying the film I slogged my guts out to put on screen for him and the rest of the audience.
None of that irritates me though, the thing that I hate about mornings is that I have neither the heart nor the energy to throw the offender in the river and end up going "Sorry" instead...

Gracia my cat nipper (there is a picture in the my dog title) at 29 lbs feels that in the am if the food bowl is empty that crawling up stealthfully on the bed and positioning himself onthe head board and then pouncing all 29 claw drawn lbs on my face is the best way to remind me it is lunch time

I hate the insistance that mornings are a good time of day and that I should be alert and happy.
Look I've just spent 7 hours in a nice warm comfortable bed and you want me to get out. Are you MAD!

Gordon - sounds like Nipper is about twice Kashmir's weight! I haven't actually tried putting him on a scale, but I'm guess-timating him to be 10-14 lbs. An orange, lean, mean hunting machine!
I wasn't too amused when he tried to bring a dead chipmunk into the house. And there have been voles and bluejays left by the back door.

I saw my first sunrise today for many years, i got up at 6.30 and i wasn't overly impressed by it (the sunrise), it was cloudy so i guess technically i didn't see the sun rise, but i did see it go from dark to light. it's just like a sunset, only backwards!.
To save anyone else the absolute torture i went through (and still going through!), maybe an early riser could make a video of one and post it in the video section?.
I also noted that every other person i saw out at that time had a sour look on their face?.

You guys have ORANGE cats? You might want to take them back and trade them in for newer models. I couldn't stand having a cat that was TES film depot orange!

Since working in the theater business, my body has gotten used to staying up late and sleeping late. I'm ususally up until at least 1 or 2, weather I'm working or not. If I have nothing to do, I don't get up until at least 10. But I hate those semesters where class is at 9:30, and if I want to have any chance of getting up at 8, I have to force myself to go to bed by 11 even though I'm not tired. Usually doesn't happen, I stay up until 1 anyway, and end up regretting it.Although I am not a morning person, I will have to get used to it when I become a tech, and I do not want to give that up, no sir! Start work around 6 or 7 in the morning, be finished by 1 or 2, have the rest of the day to yourself. Not too bad I suppose.

I never said that Kashmir was TES-orange ... just orange!
Well, he's kind of a combination of orange & peach.
And at a year and a half old, I don't think it's time yet to trade him in! (Particularly since the cat seems to be smarter than the people that haphazardly shove broken reels into those dinged up orange cans!)

What i hate most about mornings at this time of year is that they tend to just butt-in on evenings! I'm ready for crashing out about 3am, and the sky is getting brighter, and those damn birds are up singing 'wake-up wake-up, its a lovely morning'! Oh, and i hate the way the birds have learned to emulate mobile ringtones - it's like all the birds have mobiles now, and their phoning all their mates - 'wake up, wake up', etc

What I hate most about mornings is when I'm opening the building at 9, and by 9:30 there are people banging on the doors wanting me to let them in.
Posted by Leo Enticknap (Member # 534) on 07-04-2002, 02:13 AM:
We have mobile 'phone birds and car alarm birds, too...I'm far more of a morning person than an evening person - out of choice I sleep from around 2200-0500. The thing I hated most about working in cinemas was having to stay up until 2am when there were late shows on, especially in the summer since I can't sleep at all if there's any daylight around.
My other morning pet hate is moron drivers. They think that because there is not much traffic they have the right to behave like psychos. One of them put a smile on my face earlier this year, though. On the way to work I was tailgated by a t**t in a BMW for about three miles (whom I observed in my mirror with one hand on the steering wheel and the other clamping a mobile 'phone to her left ear), and when I slowed down to go through a village she decided that speed limits didn't apply to her and pulled out to overtake me. She failed to notice a lorry starting to turn right out of a side road... and bang went her no-claims bonus! This was at 6.30am on a January morning, in pitch black with thick freezing fog covering the Vale of York, and there was condensation all over the windows of her car. Judging by a bruise on her forehead when she got out of the car, I strongly suspect that the driver was not wearing a seat belt.
Some people are determined to kill themselves; I just wish they wouldn't try to take me with them!
