I just tried this last evening, and was totally unimpressed. I didn't think the vanilla went well with the cola flavor. I think this will go away quickly like clear Pepsi.I don't think you'll need to find a place for it in your soda dispensers.
Has anyone else tried it yet? I don't know if its in national distribution yet or not.
Bottle looks just like regular Coke...only the small word "Vanilla" on the label.

I liked it, but I actually wished the vanilla flavor was just a wee bit stronger.For the record, I liked Crystal Pepsi too.
At a chrch lock-in back in high school, I drank an entire 2 liter bottle all by myself with the exception of maybe a glassful because no one else liked it.
Now Im waiting for chocolate flavored Jolt Cola

I tried it, didnt like it much. It was as if the two flavors were fighting each other, plus I'm trying to avoid any form of carbonated beverage (boy am I in the wrong job

I also like the vanilla coke. But what really scares me is that I've heard that PEPSI BLUE is comming?! I've started to get several customers asking for Pepsi Twist at the concession stand. Its quickly becoming the most-asked-for-drink-that-we-don't-serve replacing orange soda.

Ron, as is often the case, Crystal Pepsi was launched in Canada as a test market first (Canadians you see, are much like Americans, the marketers say we're a little harder to sell to, so the feeling is, if you can sell it in Canada, can't miss for the States). Anyway, about 3 weeks before it was to be sold, the store I worked in got a couple skids of the stuff, wrapped and EXPLICITLY warned not to sell it. Being a college kid, I sensed the chance at "history" and procured a 2L bottle (with permission) and set out to be the first in the world to use this stuff as mix. Not really Pepsi, not really 7-Up, sort of a mix of both, I thought. My strategy went awry at the Liquor Store, when I decided I needed a souvenir of my night, and bought a pretty crappy Rye to go with it: Royal Reserve (the one with the "proud Canadian" sticker on the back). I never drank Crystal Pepsi again (and in fact, I believe purged most of it later on that night! 
). I have NO such plans for Pepsi Blue and predict the same doom for that product. No real moral here, but I would suggest a Crown Royal or Canadian Club for your Rye (with Ginger).

There were actually TWO clear soft drinks from Pepsi at the same time, and they were confusingly labeled:Crystal Pepsi: the clear cola we all knew...
And...
Crystal [from the makers of] Pepsi: Another clear soda (I believe Canada-only, as the only places I have ever seen it were North Bay Ontario and Montreal in 1994), this soda tasted much like Zima (sans alcohol of course).
Both were out from 1993-95

Although I kinda like the Vanilla Coke, it's all just a marketing ploy. You could get "vanilla coke" at any Denny's or Waffle House for as long as I can remember, so it's nothing "new"... Seems like whenever the cola companies want some free advertizing, they just release some "new" product and gain free air time on all those morning and daytime talkshows. Then the product disappears.
Some say that advertizing was the only reason for the release of "New Coke" back in the 80s. They release a new product, everybody tries it so they have booming sales, 85% don't like it and demand the old coke back, this stirs national controversy and press coverage (and free advertizing!) until they bring back the "old coke", gain some more news coverage, and sell more coke. People eventually forget about the failed products, but I still have a commemorative can of "Pepsi Storm" with one of the Star Wars Episode 1 characters on it!
Much like Dave, I have no intentions of trying Pepsi Blue. If you think about it, nothing in the natural world that we eat is blue. Not even blueberries. (If you crush one up, they're actually purple) So therefore, I believe man was not meant to consume anything blue. =TMP=

Does anyone remember the hilarious "Crystal Gravy" commercial that ran on Saturday Night Live several years ago? They had that Van Halen song "Right Now" playing to the images of people pouring what looked like gooey Karo Syrup on chicken wings and drumsticks and then taking blissful bites out of it with all the clear goo dripping all over.

Pepsi Blue makes me think of toilet water with that blue bowl cleaner stuff in it.I like the "classic" Coke. It has that burn to it. Dr. Pepper isn't bad, I like it more than Pepsi but if I drink to much of it I have to run to the bathroom and mess up the blue color of my toilet water.

I think it's about time you guys tried IRN BRU!Brewed in Scotland, from girders, allegedly.
It's our most asked for soft drink that we dont sell as we sell Coke, and you can only get Irn Bru if you have Pepsi dispensers. Until very recently Scotland was the only country in the world where Coke was the number two best selling soft drink - Irn Bru being number one!

I was not aware that coke even came out with a vanilla coke yet. Then again I havent seen it around here either. Anyone remember remember new Coke?
James jolt cola is not easily found round here either. Have you tried maybe to have a caffeine I.V. hooked into your veins? Maybe that would sooth your nerves.

If I am not mistaken, Phil Hartman was the one blissfully enjoying the clear goop. Ironically, it was the same day that The Daily Show did a spoof on Vanilla Coke. (they "revealed the secret formula" by pouring vanilla extract into regular coke.)

I just noticed this today:On our Dr. Pepper boxes, there is a recipe for "Hot Dr. Pepper".
Mix one part Dr. Pepper syrup with 5 parts boiling water in a standard coffee cup. Add a thin slice of lemon.
...do yourself a favor, and don't try it! My stomache has been reeling all day! Why would they print this on their label?!

Pepsi Blue sounds good, I'll be there! Vanilla Coke is OK; Cherry Coke (or Pepsi) is my drink of choice, but I've always thought they could do a LOT better with the cherry flavor- it's always seemed like there's just been a hint of it in there.
My favorite failed soft drink was 7-Up Gold, which had the 2 things regular 7-up "Never had, never will"- caffeine and artificial color, it was most comparable to Dr. Pepper and didn't resemble 7-up in the least.

Vanilla Coke is being rolled out a market at a time. It was about a month or 5 weeks ago that I saw it being premiered on the "Today" show, but it only hit the Philly Market about 2 weeks ago. I picked up a bottle on my way to my folks house and on trying it thought that the aftertaste reminded me of Kaopectate, which I don't think I have had in nearly 20 years. My father pointed out that Kao was vanilla flavored, which was beyond my remembering.
I finished the bottle only the next day and still didn't think I liked it but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought, I guess my expectations were too high.

Does anybody here remember Royal Crown Cola?RC had a cola with a 'twist' of lemon back around 1969-1970, I think. It bombed, too.
I rather liked the RC Draft that came out around 1998 or so... Good rich taste
I have an old LP of 7-up radio jingles from around 1960. Fun stuff!

Hmmm... I haven't seeen Pepsi Blue here yet, but I probably won't try it when it arrives. These soda companies need to stop "re-making" their drinks with these "director's cuts" Hot Dr. Pepper sounds like something that would be good to use to induce vomiting should you swallow somehting toxic.
Maybe they should just come out with "Digital Coke" That way, it will be perfect.

Vanilla Coke ...eh, it didn't really do it for me. Reminded me of what it might taste like to mix cola and cream soda, and cream soda isn't particularly my favorite beverage.mmm... not only do I 'remember' Royal Crown cola, I happen to really like the stuff! I've never tried the RC Cherry cola version, figured it would be similar to other cherry colas, and too sticky sweet. However, the RC Edge is pretty good - and who else puts ginseng in soda?

Vanilla DIET Coke is now coming out. A press release was bragging that Vanilla Coke has been a big seller, but hasn't mentioned that it has been HIGHLY discounted, at least in my area.

This stuff is yummy. I really like the Vanilla flavouring which is strong and has quite a natural feel to it as opposed to a lot of artificial flavours. It also seems to have a creaminess which slides down the tongue quite pleasantly. Oscar material IMHO

Coca-Cola Co., the world's largest soft drink maker, said on Friday it would phase out its Vanilla Coke, Vanilla Diet Coke and Diet Coke With Lemon beverages in the United States by end of 2005.
Coca-Cola added that it plans to introduce Diet Black Cherry Vanilla Coke and Black Cherry Vanilla Coke in the United States in January 2006.

Corkey and Lenny's Deli in Cleveland had the BEST phosphates, and of course you MUST make them with Schubert's syrup!
And for those FT members from Cleaveland, I heard that Corkey and Lenny's is no more? Is this true?
