Hey gang!

I know there is at least one Film-Techer who works at the AMC Lennox in Columbus, OH. I would like to talk to you about your theatre if you would be so kind. I visited friends in Columbus this past weekend, further solidifying my desire to live there. But, seeing that my company doesn't have theatres down there, I would have to jump ship after six years, and I want to do my homework before I consider doing that.

Brian Hogan has posted here, and, last I heard, he was working at Lennox 24, close to OSU. He hasn't posted in awhile.

AMC has 4 locations and 80 screens. They do the most business around here. Presentation at most of these are pretty good, especially at LENNOX and EASTON. Dublin has had some problems, and Eastland 8 is a bad location.

Regal has a 16 plex, dim projection and fair presentation.

Marcus has 2 16 plex. Presentation is outstanding at both, and one has an Imax. Crosswoods is my choice for best in town.

Drexel (a local group) has 3 locations, with 2 exclusively running art product, and one new, all THX downtown by the hockey arena. Small, but they do a pretty good job.

There are 4 quasi-Cinemark locations. They look like Cinemark, advertise like Cinemark, smell like Cinemark but don't have the Cinemark name. I would not recommend these...many poor experiences. Too bad...at one time the best in town, but somewhat run-down now.

I wonder if those "quasi Cinemark" theaters are actually run by Hollywood/Wallace. I forget the business relation, but bascially Hollywood's theater design is pretty similar to Cinemark's old circus-theme look (their newest places have a more post-modern architectural look like what Carmike has been doing in some of their builds).

These were all Cinemark theatres until they dropped the Cinemark name. I heard it was some kind of internal split-off. Don't remember the details. The dollar house is not bad, but I would not recommend the others. One was designed for stadium seating but it was not installed, so the screens are uncomfortably high.

Cinemark calls them their "Tinseltown" theatres (their new megaplexes).

Carmike calls them their "Wynsong" theatres (their new megaplexes).

The last of the "Tinseltown" theatres was opened in late 1998. Since early 1999, they have an art deco theme (burgundy/gold color scheme), and are simply called "Cinemark."
