)Detroit - 25-year-old Tarajee Maynor is in the Oakland County Jail, without bond, for the heat deaths of her two small children.
She left her 10-month-old daughter and her three-year-old son in the hot car, with the windows up, for over three hours while she got her hair done.
She was arriagned Sunday on felony murder charges and faces life in prison, without parole, if convicted.
She also drove around Detroit for two hours trying to come up with a story to tell the police. She told the police that she was kidnapped and raped. So that was why the kids were left in the car. This state does not have the death penalty, I say give her life, and lock her in a small black car for three hours a day so she knows how her kids suffered.

It's things like this that make me wish that the courts would decide the punishment for a crime like this, then tack on extra years based on the stupidity of the crime.
Hey ladies, does it really take three HOURS to get your hair done? I could see an hour, maybe even two, but three??? That's longer than a Costner flick! It's ashamed the kids weren't old enough to figure out how to hot-wire the car. They certainly had enough time. They could have turned on the air conditioning and waited for their wonderful parent to come out with perfect hair, then run her over!!!

The mother emerged from inside the grocery store with a full shopping cart, just as the fire department was about to smash open the driver's window.
The mother had a really stupid "whats-going-on" expression on her face. She said she was only gone for a couple of minutes...to get a few things...
Did I mention that the shopping cart was full of groceries?
She got a severe tongue-lashing from Social Services, EMT workers, Police officers and also the Fire Dept.
Like I said, I've known of quite a number of similar incidents...

Our two year old took my wifes keys to the Beretta, opened the door and locked himself in the car. This happened at home in the driveway. He couldn't figure out how to "unlock" the doors, so he just played with the buttons and horn until he got too hot. My wife was freaking out!! She called me at the office in Nashville, and I immeadiately left the office to drive the 30 minutes back home. He had already been in there about 15-20 minutes. Once he started crying, she ran over to the neighbors house to call the police. They came and removed the window glass from the car without breaking it. She said it took them all of 10 seconds to get him out.
The cop ripped the trim of the rear side window, pulled some wire loop from the bottom of the glass and the glass just popped right out.
He said all cars have that... but most people just use a brick!
We now have EXTRA keys to the cars and the house!!

If that is so there would be a lot of people on death row.
What is the mental state of this woman.
There are people in this world who abuse children. All they get is counciling, not the death penalty & they a fully aware of what they are doing.
Death is not the answer.

Mother charged in baby's car death

The mother of the 9-month-old boy who died of heat exposure surrendered to Fort Worth police Thursday morning.
27-year-old Jessica Estrada says she accidentally left her son, Lorenzo, in the car Tuesday morning.
She is charged with criminally negligent homicide, which is the lowest classification of a felony charge.
Ms. Estrada arrived at the jail surrounded by her family and clutching what appeared to be a baby blanket. She was escorted by a Fort Worth police detective.
A short time later, Ms. Estrada posted a $2,500 bond and left the building with her family.
The National Safe Kids Campaign, in reviewing records since 1996, found at least 150 children have died from heat stroke after being left in a vehicle. Nine out of 10 of the victims were age 3 and younger.
Leaving small children unattended is one way to ask for something unsavory to happen!
...am I the only person that thinks truly stupid people really shouldn't be allowed to reproduce?
BTW Brad, yes it can take up to 3 hours to get your hair done. If she was dying and highlighting or getting braids done it can easily take that long. But the real question is: Why didn't she just take them in with her???
So what happens when this dim wit, or another like her, harms another child through random acts of freekin stupidity????????

Also this story started with shock of two children being killed by a stupid woman. We now people a saying she should have a termination, which is a lot closer to murder than stupidity.
I oppose the death penalty for two reasons: firstly, if you execute an innocent person then you can't reverse that process, and secondly because it is contradictory to have a law which says that premeditated killing is wrong unless the government does it. Those who oppose the first argument would point out that if executing one innocent person saves far more innocent lives (either becuase of a deterrant effect or because a murderer cannot reoffend after being executed), then that's a net gain.
But opposing the death penalty does not mean being soft on criminals. I've often thought that some of Britain's nastiest murderers lead a far too comfortable life in jail. If I had my way I would lock up the likes of Myra Hindley and Harold Shipman in an underground jail in a remote location, in solitary confinement (i.e. no visitors, no TV, ever), for the rest of their natural lives.
As for this awful woman, she should certainly be locked up for a very long time. But ultimately we have to recognise that what she did is not as 'bad' as if she'd deliberately set out to kill her kids.
