Hi! This is my first post on Film-Tech, and I wanted to thank Brad for these wonderful forums, and all of you for participating in them. I have learned more in two days of browsing these forums than I have in the last two years of hands-on experience. More importantly, I've learned things that I have been doing not quite correctly, and I've learned the names of all these things I've been working with ("So, THAT's the intermittant??").

There truly is nothing on the internet, including the web and newsgroups, that is like Film-Tech, and I'm looking forward to learning, participating and (eventually) helping others here for a long time.

That's what we are here for. I am always suprised and shocked to find that there are others out there that just do not know about this little gem. I would be nothing but goo without this site.

Welcome John!

I've been here since '99, and I have made some really great connections with the other members here. I've learned sooo much, and I am glad. If it had not been for some of the members here, I would have given up on the 35mm hobby, and I would have not done preventitive maintenance on a Century SA in a local theatre. It, by the way, is running beautifully.

You can learn alot here. Some of the most brilliant film people in the world post here. It's a good place. Like a big family!

Don't forget to "spread the word" about Film-Tech! Let others who would benefit from the advice and friendship shared here know about Film-Tech.

With over 100,000 theatre screens around the world, it's one of the best ways to help others with "Film Done Right" and "Digital Done Right".

Let your co-workers know about Film-Tech. When you visit or talk to workers at other theatres, "spread the word".

BTW, whatever happened to the idea of a .pdf file on Film-Tech that could be printed out and sent along with prints to the next theatre? The document could give the Film-Tech URL ( http://www.film-tech.com ) and perhaps a print inspection statement saying something to the effect of "This print was proudly shown as an example of "Film Done Right" at the _________________theatre by__________________, an active participant in the Film-Tech Film Handlers Forum." Of course the playdates should also be listed, in case someone carelessly damages the print after it leaves your theatre.

Actually if anyone has any specific suggestions for this, email me and I'll combine everyone's efforts (or just use one person's if it is really good) and make that.

At one point there was a recommendation of sending out stickers with each bottle of FilmGuard or media pads (or "print your own" from a downloaded file from the site) that served this purpose and provided the theaters with a nice label to place over the string catch on TES prints, just like how they place their label over the string catch.
