This was mentioned in the Usenet newsgroup bit.listserv.skeptic .Seahorse Medical Inc. plans to develop commercial applications of liquid ventilation with perfluorocarbon fluids. Remember the rat in The Abyss?

Perfluorocarbons are some of the new (very inert) cleaning solvents replacing methyl chloroform (1,1,1-trichloroethane) since it was banned by the Montreal Protocol for possibly depleting the ozone layer.------------------
