Hands down, this has to be the best trailer of all time! This trailer shows what is wrong with every OTHER trailer out there. Plus you just know you've always wanted to put a face to the voice. Seriously, check this out right now. It's great!!!

YES! This is one of the greatest trailers EVER, ranking up there with the one in "3-D" that Albert Brooks did for (I think) REAL LIFE, and the cheese trailer for THIS IS SPINAL TAP.Another great thing about this trailer...it really makes me want to go see this movie, and I don't know ANYTHING about it but the title!
Who is the voice-over guy? It doesn't look like Don LaFontaine. He is addressed as "Jack", but the onscreen actor isn't Jack Angel. Any ideas?

The voice is Jack Angel. It may have been ADR'd because you've got to get closer to a mic than he was to get that kind of presence.

The trailer reminded me about the scene at the beginning of "MRS. DOUBTFIRE" where Robin Williams had a disagreement with the producer at a motion picture studio about the dialogue he was recording for an animated cartoon. Yes, I should put logic aside but since when do they record voice over dialogue for a film without a scrip? Sorry, just asking.

Great trailer, but Tim Reed is right in saying that wasn't Jack Angel. I saw a puff piece about the real guy and that dude had hair. It sounded like Jack, but some comedians have imitated the guy before. I remember that character one of the players from Mad TV would do where the guy was acting like he was in a movie trailer all the time. Also, it could be one of those things where Angel lends his voice but doesn't play well enough on camera, so they hire another actor to do the on-screen stuff.Anyway, aside from the hair-splitting, it was a really good trailer. Very funny and satirical of the nature of movie trailers for the past couple decades.

There's a great short called "Trailer: The Movie" which is about two guys who make a film, realize that it sucks, but manage to salvage two minutes' worth of film to make a misleading trailer about it. Very funny. I recently ran this at a festival. If anyone knows where I can get a copy of it on videotape (or buy a print), I'd be interested.

Then on the next page scroll to the bottom of the page again and click on tape request. There is your tape. What a great trailer.According to the film's website, Comedian was shot with two consumer, hand-held cameras. I think that is what Steve was referencing.

I have GOT to figure out a way to see this. 3 or 4 other friends have now sent me links to it.Our local ISP is supposedly going to start offering broadband this fall, so we will FINALLY be out of the internet dark ages around here. I've given up on downloading anything lengthy, because I just wait and wait and then usually the thing won't play (or if it does play, it wasn't worth waiting for anyway).

Yes, Comedian was shot on video. The current running time is 82mins.
We have been doing DVCAM-PRO screenings. We start Press screenings of
the film transfer October 04th.

I haven't seen the trailer projected in a real movie theater, only this Quicktime. I wonder if they shot the trailer on film? I am betting that they probably did. Interesting that the trailer has higher production values and probably better writing than the actual movie! Is the "movie" just Jerry Seinfeld doing stand up?

the problems a new person doing comedy. Along the way new and old

I would agree that it is Hal Douglas on that trailer. The website http://www.voicehunter.com has samples of a HUGE number of voiceover artists, including Don La Fontaine and Hal Douglas. I just compared samples of each. Those two voices are REALLY hard to tell apart. Douglas has a bit of a raspier sound...La Fontaine is smoother. I would have a hard time telling who was who on just one listen.

Thanks, Arthur. I have Jack Angel's demo, and he and this guy are very close sound alikes. Sure fooled me.
Oh, did ya notice the mistake in the trailer? It showed the engineer potting the fader up less than halfway. Everybody knows trailers are recorded at death level!
Anybody know a way to save that quicktime? It won't let you right-click.

I already tried. The address is too long for the UBB to handle. That's why I went in and split it up into 3 lines. Users will have to contend with copying and pasting it into their browser.

It could've been that, or it could've also been Jerry Seinfeld read Roger Ebert's comments regarding "any time a trailer starts with 'in a world' it will be a bad movie." Oh how right he is too!(That may not be the *exact* quote, but that's the basic point of it.)
