I haven't fully gone through the site, yet. But I seriously think that people take things TOO SERIOUSLY or to heart. I just don't understand people most of the time when they think of things like this. The site was put up just a couple weeks ago and they also have a petition with over 3500 signatures.

Would it really be necessary to change the title of movie if it just HAPPENS to relate to certain traumatic events? For gosh sakes, the LOTR: TWO TOWERS title was created for the second book of the trilogy long before the thought of the WTC buildings.

I'm just interested in others opinions within our fields. (theatres and film)

Okay, I did read the FAQ on this site and found it interesting that........ IT IS TRUE!!! WTF, and they positively think that they will win because a few of their members even helped stop the release of PHONE BOOTH due to the Maryland Sniper. Would they also be responsible for holding back COLLATERAL DAMAGE and BIG TROUBLE soon after Sept 11th? I don't think so. If they do win, what is their next target? The book title itself?

I even wrote an e-mail to this website. Usually, I don`t do that. But I find this positively infuriating. The book and the movie have nothing to do with 9/11. Would we want to ban the expression "world trade"?
There are many more important things that could be done to help the victims of that catastrophy.
Frankly, I think those people are abusing the horror and suffering that this day has brought to many in order to get themselves undue attention.

Trade between countries is kind of a necessity. Where would the US get its TV's?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought that the World Trade Center was commonly referred to as the TWIN TOWERS not the Two Towers. There is a little bit of difference.

Me too. My e-mail was also rejected. Maybe they have a filter which rejects criticism. Yes, TWIN towers. Good point. Isn`t there a tower of Babylon in the bible which also collapsed. They will probably ban the bible next.
My point really is, I was also shocked by the events on 9/11. But I do not think this kind of action does justice to what happened on that day.
I really think these people are abusing the memory of that day for their petty crusade. To get themselves attention. But I already said that.

Brad, sorry. I didn't realize there was already another topic related to this one. It was just brought to my attention and the sitetracker for the site listed that it started in mid-October.

David, cool comment on the "RETURN OF THE KING". But people would really be excited if it were related to ELVIS.

I know that lots of movie titles were changed for one reason or another, but I can't think of any right now. But would they change if it were related to major traumatic events (i.e. 9-11, Columbine shooting, Beltway Sniper)? Is it up to the producers or studios?

Another good point I found ...... America MUST change it's emergency number! ... How offensive it must be to have to dial 911 for emergency services .... emergency service crew perished in the '9/11' attacks .... you must change the number now!!

Speaking of movies that changed thier names for one reason or another..

Star Trek 7:Generations.. was originally titled NEMESIS. It was changed to generations because they felt that the main bad guy didn't really feel that evil, and they wanted to play off of the fact that it would have the old and new generations...

STar Trek 8:First Contact.. was originally titled NEMESIS. They changed it to RESURRECTION until the fourth alien movie was announced and then it was changed about nine times and fell upon FIRST CONTACT.

Star Trek 9:Insurrection.. Was originally titled.. guess what... NEMESIS. It was changed because they really felt that the name didn't feel right to the movie.

Now we have star trek 10:NEMESIS. I was SURE that they would have changed this title. I hate this title. They have been toying with it for ten freaking years and NOW they have to use it. I hope to hell and back that they finally found the right movie for this name..

Problem is I viewed a film called NEMESIS and it was 83 minutes of pure hell. Some french action guy, Oliveir Grunier or whatever. It is the longest 83 minute film in history, feels like 4 hours.

What the hell am I talking about? Damn I got lost again.

DEFINITELY! If we're going to let all these fragile people control everything, then we simply MUST get rid of the 911 emergency service number. Political correctness has really gone too far over the last several years.

Personally, I'm offended by 7-11. How dare such an insensitive corporation name a chain of convenience stores after the date two months before (or ten months after) such horrible attacks!! And they serve a flavor of "Slurpee" colored RED?!? THEY have gone too far, not political correctness.

And let's not forget Milton Bradley's game of skill and determination, "JENGA"! How dare a "game of skill and determination" involve a "tower" of blocks "collapsing"???

We must just get rid of the 9/11 date altogether. I propose just skipping that date, and adding a 31st day to the end of September. How dare we allow a month to include a date with such horrible memories.

We've gotten rid of the 13th floor on all the tall buildings, so this shouldn't be any harder than that.

So this is what we have become, a society of frightened children? It doesn't help the cause of reason that the companies responsible for these "horrific" ads are giving in to these sensitivity mongers. If one major company accused of delibirate offensive advertisement would stand up and just say no, people would take notice. Sadly, these companies are too afraid of losing face and losing a few dozen customers to stand up for logic. If this is the way we are going to act from now on, running in terror at any resemblance of something that was meant to stand as a source of power, stength, and liberty, then the terrorists truly have won.

This may be off topic. If they made a theatrical movie on the WTC
disaster would they have SFX crews using mock-ups,etc.
of various floors between floors & ceilings such as flame machinery
& other things to give audiences a view of what happened inside during the plane collisions & during the collapse of the buildings?

Maybe we'll see the "R-rating Protest Organization" in the future, but that is a different story.
