1.You watch a film on TV and are irritated by the fact that there are no cue dots.
2.When watching a VHS tape and you see a horizontal flash, you automatically think oh lab splice
3.When watching a bad TV reception you point out the grain.
4. You measure your everyday activities in multiples of 20 minutes.

When you see a movie on TV or DVD or VHS and you remember exactly when there should be reel changes...

When you remember the points that were easy to focus the film on, i.e. the fence in the street in american beauty.
Also when you know the owrds to the adverts you show is a real sad thing!

When you go out to the show as a patron with friends...to relax and enjoy a show, only to find yourself paying more atention to the quality of presentation than the topic of the show!

.....when people ask you if you think things should be brought to you on a silver platter - and you say - YES! I got 42 of them at work!.....when you find yourself explaining to a total stranger how it is 35mm film in a movie theatre projection booth and NOT a DVD!
.....when someone says "Germans build the world's best automobiles - you yell out -"Projector Heads too!!"

-When you discover that you are allergic to the sun-When you find anything that turns or spins round and round hypnotically fascinating.
-When you find anything in the world that is even the slightest bit off-center to be frustratingly annoying since it is not perfectly "in frame".
-When you start to wonder how many frames per second real life is, and how much better everything would look if you saw the world at 24 frames per second.
-When you see something in real life (like a wall, painting, or a far away vista, etc) where the lower portion is noticably darker than the upper portion for whatever reason, and you are annoyed that either the douser did not open all the way or that the xenon needs to be refocused.
-When you look out of a window that has a few vertical streaks and your first thought is that the world has been scratched and you'll need to call TES to replace it with a new one.

- your car is filled with reels, splicers, 16mm projectors, and other film junk and random bits, but you never bother to clean it out because you know than an occasion will come up where you will need to use at least some of these items within a week or two- your friends all hate you for having explained cue marks to them and thus made it impossible for them to watch a film without noticing the cues
- you refuse to explain cue marks to anyone else for this reason
- you have wanted to adjust the shutter timing on a TV set
- you go to the record store specifically to shop for non-sync music
- you will refuse to watch a movie if you know that the prints were made at Deluxe Hollywood
- you have an urge to strike an arc whenever you hear clangy bells
- your paperweight at your "real job" is a scope lens
- you know the TES phone number by heart
- you admit that all of the above apply to you

You can time 8 seconds exactly. You remember change-over sceens, even though it has been years since you have seen the film.
You are very good at lip reading.
You can read in the dark.
All the old projector parts and other old "junk" is YOURS AND ALL YOURS. Do not touch!!!!!

You go to Blockbuster to rent a new release DVD, and leave the place empty handed because you realized you've seen just enough of everything on the shelf to ruin it for yourself, and make them not worth watching. If you ever 'do' rent a movie, the speed-up for PAL transfer irritates the living hell out of you for the duration of the film!

You notice the projectionist you're training is politely listening (with a slightly pasted smile) to you tell the stories (again) about how YOU were trained by some crabby old union guy who actually tolerated you being in his booth (well... you WERE only 11!), back when dirt was new... and you realize you've finally reached that same level... you're at least as old as dirt... and that crabby old teacher is now YOU!

You watch a film on TV and worry about the future of cinema because you were the only customer in the theatre.

Your blood pressure goes up when you see the changeover cues in a movie on TV, then realize that the people doing the transfer changed reels before the 2nd set of cues even hit the screen! You do a mental countdown when you see cues.
You get excited when you see little jiggley circles in the upper right corner.

You are in a boring lecture/meeting and when you hit times that are at multiples of 20 mins (say 20 past the hour, 40 past and on the hour) you wait for the lecturer to stop speaking for 5 or 10 seconds to make a good place for the reel change.

When you visit a movie theatre for the first time, and immediately ask for a booth tour, or you try to make out what equipment they have by looking thru the porthole. When watching a movie in a theatre, or on TV and going thru the motions of executing a changeover at each reel change.
Your idea of a great vacation is a trip to ShoWest.
