He was only offering to change he and his wife's name and invite the winning bidder to family functions. Would you not consider doing the same for $5M ?

Well, if that's all he was offering then eBay had no reason to pull the auction. He wasn't actually selling any human beings.

I saw an interview with this family on The O'Reilly Factor. The father seemed like an ignorant greed-driven idiot who tried many times to plug his own literary publications.

People that use there family to get undeserved attention should be publicly flogged.
