A discussion in another thread led me to write a Photoshop/ImageReady tutorial for creating the "spinning Paul" animated gif.

I expect him to share his creations with us shortly!

Pauls head was spinning last time he left here, but not quite that fast!! More from moving a console up a stairway it would not fit up......

People who know Paul have let me know that the spinning logo of Paul is in reality a truer picture of the real Paul. [Wink]

Hey, Hey, Hey Paul!

I don't believe you! [Smile]

Click on "Click here to upload an image." right beside Preview Post in the post window. It's easy... and fun.

edit: OK, I believe you... temporarily. Apparently we've got a little version skew happenin'

edit again: Now it's fixed. I don't believe you again. [Smile]

Isn't Adobe Photoshop that God awfully expensive program?
That was more a statement than a question.

I'll sell you a license for Microsoft 2000 Data Center Server and throw in an Adobe PhotoShop license for free. [Smile]

I fing animated GIF files incredible annoying. Thank God I can turn them off! I just leave them off, in fact. I may have thought they were cool in the 7th grade, though.

I am not interested in server software [Smile] as I had been wanting to buy a copy of Adobe and found I didn't want it that bad due to the price. [Frown]
So what makes it better than any other graphics program?

Posted by Matthew Peters (Member # 1495) on 01-27-2003, 09:41 PM:

Sam, download Jasc Paint Shop Pro - I did (just as good as photoshop if you ask me.) [Smile]

Someone wanna clue me in as to how to make an animated .gif file? I think it'd be fun to learn at least...you know, when I'm bored.. like now..

Posted by Paul G. Thompson (Member # 655) on 01-27-2003, 11:35 PM:

Jason, I have spent several hours stumbling through the maze to make them, even though I had a 5-page tutorial which was well-written to follow. The biggest problem I had was getting to know the software (Adobe in this case) to do it.

Once you get to know the software, it is not that hard, and practice makes perfect. On the very first post of this thread, there are some links that will direct you to the instructions Adam made. That's what I used step by step. Adam did a very nice job in making the step-by-step instructions.

Download them, get plenty of coffee, and sit down and have a ball screwing it up until you get the hang of it. [Smile]

Made it myself..... [Big Grin]

LOL! Now Paul's all nice and clean!

To make a smoother animation, use more layers and smaller rotations. ie, 4 layers = 90 degrees, 8 layers = 45 degrees, etc.

To use non-90 degree rotations, click Edit > Transform > Rotate to free-rotate or Edit > Transform > Numeric to type in a specific degree to rotate.

There are only three layers,
1. PTR's and wall
2. Paul's head
3. Return Film Path

If I make it any more smooth and (I can make it very well)
The size Exceeds 200k

Not you, Matthew. I was talking about Paul's rotating thingies. [Smile]

No he's not. Not if those are PTRs. The Paul Particles are just transferred from one Part of the Paul to the other. [Smile]

Ok, whats the difference between Photoshop and adobe photoshop elements? Or is it the same thing?

Nevermind, I went to the Adobe website and found out.
I downloaded the trail version of elements to see if I like it.

Posted by Paul Linfesty (Member # 214) on 01-28-2003, 01:24 PM:

Photoshop elements is basically a stripped-down version with some of the more elementary components included. I'm not sure where it fits in with Photoshop LE (below or above).
