I believe this has been brought up before, but could find nothing in a search.
Also, I'm not sure if this belongs in Film Handlers or Yak.
But anyway...

I saw a concert by a band called Sigur Ros last night, and during the show, I looked over and noticed the HUGE video projector that was used to project their background images.
It was positioned in a place where I could easily walk over and see it after the show, and I saw that it was a BARCO DLP projector.
This is only an estimation, but I believe the dimentions were approximately 6 foot long, 3 feet wide, and 1 1/2 foot tall.

I can't really give a fair judgement on the image since the images they used had gone through filters and effects for a more surreal kind of look.
They guys who were breaking down the PA system seemed kind of busy so I didn't bother to ask too many questions.

Does anyone know of any other bands or musicians that use DLP at their shows, and if so have you seen them?

ChristieDigital has a full line of "Rental/Staging" projectors, like the "Roadster" and "Roadie" series.

Barco likewise has projectors for the rental market, like the RLM G5 Performer.

AFAIK, these projectors are not usually "cinema grade" for color or contrast management.

These projectors are often "stacked" (multiple projectors superimposed) to get sufficient light output for really large screens. ShoWest functions often have live video displayed during events like the Awards Banquet.

JVC also has its line of DLA "Large Venue" projectors, using D-ILA technology.

By the sounds of yor description it would assume it was the Barco R12 or R12 Director projector.
