Long story could cause movie to be split...
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the fourth story in the franchise, could be split into two seperate films, reports WENN. Producer David Heyman revealed at the DVD party for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets that splitting the film into two parts remains under consideration.
The reason for the split is due to Goblet of Fire being significantly longer than the first three parts. The first two films clocked in at a long 2 and a half hours, and most feel that it would not be wise to make Goblet into one three hour+ movie.
"We started work on the script last Monday. We're going to shoot it as one and see how it ends up. If it's too long then we'll make it into two," Heyman revealed.

They could resort to that obscure, archaic trick known as an "intermission". That'd be something... the first mainstream Hollywood movie in years with an intermission-- a kids' movie!

An intermission would be brilliant. Just THINK of all the concession sales from those hungry little kiddies who have just had to sit still for an hour and a half! Except since it's Warner Brothers, I hope they don't do what they did for Gods and Generals with just the black screen. (Come to think of it, that could count as a mainstream movie with an intermission, although nowhere near as wide as Harry would be.) A nice countdown clock with some stills/paintings of the scenes we just saw would be cool.

There could be a down side to an intermission- you may have to share your concession grosses with the distributor, as part of the contract.
