I have an idea for a form topic, Since we all are having problems with DTS & Dolby digital, we should have a form listing the problem per movie title & the problem with the digital equipment such as the name of the movie the DTS and/or Dolby that are having problems, anyone can go to see if the movie they are playing are having the same problems, this site would list only the digital format that are problems & nothing else, this way we all would know of the problem....yes I know we already do this in film handlers form but a having a form only for digital problems, we can go to & see at a glance without scrolling though hundreds of other topics...just an idea to help us all, & to know the movie problems so when we are having a problem with DTS, dolby, we can tell at a glance...

It is easily enough done if there is enough interest. To be fair though, we should probably include SDDS and analog tracks. Actually, it should just be more of a defective print forum in general.

It's important to differentiate between an isolated incident, affecting only a few prints, from a problem that affects all the prints in a release. For example, a reel with purple safelight fog near a lab splice is likely an isolated incident, whereas a scratched printing negative would affect many prints.

Requesting a replacement reel is the quickest way to make the distributor aware of a problem, and watching and listening to the projected print is the best way of finding problems that may be missed during normal lab QC or make-up in the theatre.

Unless the reporting of problems with individual prints starts happening at a much higher rate than it does now, I'd rather see that stay in the FHF. Another forum to read is significantly more overhead, and I think many of the people who you want to see that sort of thing don't read non-FHF forums.

Nah!

Any problems with a release seem to stay on the first page of FHF for at least a week, usually longer. Anybody running it first run will be sure to see it. Anybody running it later can look in FITA where it is usually noted that there is a thread about problems.

Remember, the labs almost always print one reel at a time on a given set of equipment, so if there is a wide-spread problem (e.g., a scratch on the printing negative), it will tend to be only on one reel.
