This is happening only on this one machine, running Win2K with SP3 and all the latest fixes for IE6 etc, and only on film-tech. If I am anywhere in f-t EXCEPT at the entry screen where the previews are, and if I hit "refresh", it takes me back to the entry screen every time. This doesn't happen on F-T with any other IE6 system I've tried. It also doesn't happen on this machine with Opera. I've double-checked all the IE settings, cleared cookies, etc. and can't figure out why it's doing this.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions, other than switching to Opera or Netscape (which is not an option)?

Film-Tech is programmed to do this only if IE6s' home page is set to www.davesfreeporn.com

Check your preferences/options in that IE6 vs IE6 on another machine that does not have this problem. Make sure your IE6s' prefs are set EXACTLY the same as the good one.

Edit:

OK I see you've checked the settings. Maybe throw away that computer and get a new one, as it is defective. Obviously this is a computer problem, and not a Film-Tech website problem, since it works finme on other W2K systems with IE6.

PS - Don't hit refresh.

Try right clicking and selecting "refresh" from the menu, or use a real browser like Opera. [Smile]

Safari does the same thing.
Camino (Chimera) does not.

But, since both of them are not "officially" out of their public betas I don't see it as a problem. However, if we knew the reason it happened I'd like to upload the bug report to further the development process.

In OS X, what is the difference between Camino, Chimera and Navigator (which the icon itself is named)? They are all the same EXACT thing. Why so many names? Stupid. All the more reason to use Windows instead of Mac. Apple should go out of business for this reason alone.

Still, the only thing I can think of that would cause it is that your HTTP_REFERER value is being blocked. Maybe you should complain to your network administrator over there at Buzz Monkey. [Wink]

The weird thing is that if your HTTP_REFERER was being blocked you wouldn't be able to view any uploaded pictures, instead you would see the illegal pic thing. So... that leaves javascript (did I mention I flippin' hate JS). Maybe your javascript engine is a little messed up. Try disabling javascripting to see if the problem goes away. If it does I would uninstall IE, reboot a half dozen times for fun and reinstall IE. Even if the problem doesn't go away after disabling javascripting I would try uninstalling and reinstalling IE.

If that doesn't work, somebody up above might be hinting that you're playing on FT too much at work. [Smile]

Actually, if it still isn't working you might want to try adding FT to your 'Trusted Zone', but I doubt it would help.

I agree, this must be something specific to David's PC. I too use W2K-SP3 and IE6-SP1, and do not have this problem.

Chimera had to have its name changed to Camino because, apparently, Microsoft has the name trademarked. They threatened to sue. It's named differently from Netscape to differentiate it from that browser because (I think) because it's based on a different rendering engine.

As far as I can tell, the difference is all about what GUI has been attached to which rendering engine. Thus far I know of "Gecko", "Netscape/Mozilla" (Don't remember exactly) and "Konquerer". I know that Camino is using Gecko and Safari is using Konquerer. Both of which are significantly faster and less bloated than many others. The down side is that they don't have their Java/Javascript bugs all ironed out yet.

But, since they are not "officially" released yet people can't complain about these kind of bugs.

It's definitely something with this individual PC. I have a Dell notebook sitting here, same Win2K setup, doesn't have the problem. Our firewall is definitely not messing with anything related to HTTP stuff.
