Actually, Teenie Weenie (and most dachshunds) are feisty enough to take on animals several times their size. They were bred to hunt badgers (which aren't known for being kind and gentle prey).

Our neighbor's nickname for Teenie Weenie is "Teenie Meanie", as she dominates the neighbor's mixed breed "street dog" four times her size. When they first met, Teenie bit her on the nose, and ever since, has been "top dog".

There was a huge fish (is a catfish the one with the "whiskers" and the broad mouth?) in a lake near which I grew up. It was longer than 2 meters. I saw it myself after it had been caught. There were also stories that it had swallowed small dogs. I do not know if that is true, though.

That's right, Michael. Catfish are bottom-dwellers, and they often get quite old and large.

There's even bigger catfish than that here in Oklahoma. Except I think the only dogs the catfish around here will find near the creeks are pit bulls guarding portable meth labs. It might be interesting to see an 80 pound catfish take on a pit bull in a creek.

Some people like a certain method of fishing called "noodling." I think that's a natural stunt for an episode of Fear Factor. Basically, you swim in a snake infested Oklahoma creek during the early hours of the morning. You dive under water using your arms and legs to probe holes for giant catfish. When the catfish clamps on your arm or leg you pull him out of his hole and drag him to shore! [Eek!]

Experienced noodlers have a set routine. Catch the big fish. Take some photos. Then check each other for ticks.

I just moved up from having a dirt floor! We have TV and digital satellite entertainment in Oklahoma, even "digital cable" woo-hoo! But i am trying to get venture capital to launch reality TV programs about twisted, trashy people in "Native America."

I want to videotape a noodler getting drowned by a 300 pound catfish in Cache Creek. I want to video tape a toothless 17 year old girl blowing herself up in her ill-conceived meth lab. And it would be nice to have videotape footage of all the wacky divorce stuff happening in the courts.

The idea would be to entice the scum of this state to harm themselves while grasping at fame. Once good riddance has occurred from eliminating this filth, this once really nice state can start to recover.

...sorry to sound so judgmental and negative in a post about "fishing" but the line has to be drawn somewhere!

I lived in OKC (Edmond) in the early 90s and simply LOVED it! My wife and I agree Oklahoma is one of the BEST places we have lived. The others being Louisville, KY, and West Palm Beach, FL. I would move back to "the City" in a heartbeat (my wife doesn't like the tornado threat), although I have heard it just isn't the same since "the bomb"...

Dear John.
Along with Max, Pixie and Lady I was pleased to learn that Teeny Weeny is ok.
There is no doubt that dachshunds are game and tenacious dogs, my 3 have several times bailed up larger dogs, including a visiting Malumute whom they bailed up under an outside table.
