This Happen to a friend on mine and of course i have to tell everybody.

My friend who works for a car dealer ship in the body shop, is new at his job. Apparently he did not have anything to do, so the other guys at work decided to play a trick on him. They told him that the car on the lot need to have "fresh air" in the tires. Ask him to go out there and deflate the old air out and put new air in.
so he goes out and starts. They let him do about 2 cars before they told him whats up.
I can truly say that my friend is an idiot. [Smile]

Brings me to a question, what other stories do have.

An old usher 'break-in' trick was to have the new 'gullible' ushers refill the water fountains in the lobby. They ususally were up to a few gallons before they figured out it was a joke.

How about straw inventory? I have had many a bored employee count individual straw boxes to see how many individually wrapped straws come in a case.

Go find the marquee stretcher.

Go find the squeegee sharpener.

Go outside and stand in traffic and die, thus improving the world.

Or in the old days, the carbon stretcher. And on stage it would be the plywood bender or a bag of toenails. Or go clean the reflector on a Genarco followspot. Or tie a draggin' bowline knot...

At the airport it would be a bucket of propwash, or a roll of flight line, or a roll of airfoil...

What was funny was not having to prep anyone before sending the newbie out. Everyone would just go along with it, running the poor guy/gal all over the place. Much hilarity ensued at the newbie's expense. [evil]

Of course in the US Navy on board ship, we sent the "newbies" that were fresh out of boot camp to the Forward Diesel to get a bucket of Diesel Fuel for the "Smoker's Lamp." [Big Grin]

Sending the new ushers out to get a gallon of Technicolor for aging prints is always one of my favorites.

A friend of mine used to be a plane captain on the USS America flight deck. He would have the newbies get "exhaust samples" from the Tomcats with garbage bags.

-With a dodgy print you always send the trainee out for a packet of new sprocket holes.

-Make sure they do the work with a Left Handed Screwdriver

-Send them downstairs for a short wait.

Years ago, you could ask a newbie to get the curtian key to close it, or a sky hook....

Stephen's left-handed screwdriver reminded me of the metric adjustable wrench (spanner).

On a rather fridget day in Ottawa, years ago, when I was in the Canadian Armed Forces, I sent a young, gulible lad to find the the extension cord to plug in the block heaters on the T-33 Silverstars so that they would start for the pilot's. Joke was, jet engines don't have block heaters. Irony was the young lad was a newly trained engine tech... go figure.

Send your "guy" out to the auto parts store to buy a radiator hose for a (original vintage) V.W. Beetle. [Big Grin]

Randy, don't forget to get a new set of muffler bearings when you buy your new muffler for your car. [Smile]

We also sent some of our newbies in the navy to get 50 feet of chow line. Another is to send a kid up to the forecastle deck and "Weigh the Anchor."

Don't forget the old "Seabat" thing that is very popular with newbies.

At my new drive-in, we have a full fast-food resturaunt kitchen with friers, grills, steam tables, etc. This is NO JOKE. I was walking back to the projection booth one night last week, and saw one of my 17 year old cooks cleaning the grill. He stopped me and asked me how it looked. I said, "Josh, that's a good start, but your gonna have to put a little more elbow grease on it to make it shine."

About 20 minutes later, I was walking back up to the front-line when I noticed Josh wasn't in the kitchen. I went up front and asked the girls if they'd seen him? One of them said, "He's in the store room looking for something."

I walk into the store room to find him sqatting down in-front of the stock shelves reading labels. He looks up and me and says, "Where do we keep the elbow grease?" [Roll Eyes]

Hunt for trickster with George Bush bank notes

United States police are searching for a man who paid for his groceries with a forged 200 dollar bank note bearing the image of President George W Bush.

A cashier accepted the bill, which also showed a picture of the White House, with signs on the lawn including "we like ice cream" and "USA deserves a tax cut".

Police were startled the note was accepted because it was so blatantly fake Mr Bush does not appear on any US bills and the US Mint does not even print such a denomination.

The imitation was marked as "moral legal tender" and also bore a counterfeit signature of former President Ronald Reagan who was described as "Political Mentor".

The man used the forgery to pay for groceries worth 150 dollars at the Food Lion store in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina. The note was discovered on September 6.

Their was an Asst. Manager at the Plaza Theatre that would have new ushers help count the 10 watt bulbs under the marquee. The marquee was round, so the bulbs continued into the lobby area.
So the usher would go outside a count the bulbs, while the asst. manager would count the bulbs inside. The joke was it was the same amount of bulbs inside and outside.

True story,............... I call this "Almost Stuck in Lodi Again:
or Stupid is as Stupid does.

When my friend Paul Mara arrived at the Ford dealership in Lodi, during his lunch time, about 2 months ago, to pick up his new 2003 Ford Thunderbird, he was told that the keys had been accidentally locked in his NEW car and they did not have an extra set, but they would order him a spare set and send then to him.

The service manager then directed him to the car wash area by the side of the service department where he found two mechanics working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door. They were busy slipping a wide flat knife like object with a hook, down the side of the rolled up window and fishing around for the mechanism to unlock the door. As Paul watched them work from the passenger's side, he instinctively tried the door handle and discovered it was open.
"Hey," he announced to the mechanics, "This doors open."

"I know," answered one of the guys, .- "I already opened that side. were now working on this door.

Paul then said to the young man, did you notice that the convertible top was down?
Yea, he said,..............but you need a key to put the top up, and the keys are locked in the car. Oh that's right, Paul said.

Paul then said, do you guys work here, and the other guy said, no,... were from the Locksmith place down the street, but today is our day off and so we do freelance lock smith jobs on the side.

Does it pay well, Paul asked, (not believing the conversation he was having),
well sometimes, one of the guys said, it depends if we get paid by the hour or by the job.

How are you guys getting paid today, oh were getting paid by the job and then we split the money in half between the three of us.
Paul looked around and said, but I only see two of you,......... oh, replied the taller of the two, the service manager takes half of what we make because he got this job for us.

Paul then said, how long have you been working on this job, The older guy said, since seven this morning. then Paul said, what's the video camera on the tripod for, .....oh that's to be sure no one steals anything out of your car when we go on break. Paul then said, but its a brand new car, and theres nothing in it to to steal, and besides the keys are locked inside remember.. The older, obviously smarter guy looked at the younger guy and said, that was your stupid idea, would you go and turn the camera off, we don't want to waste any more video tape.

Just then, plink, the door opened up and the guy reached into the steering column and pulled out the keys. Here you go, next time be careful and always put the top up and lock your car when you leave it.

Paul thanked then and said goodbye,....and asked them one more question, oh by the way, how much is Ford paying you for this job. Oh, we each get 15 dollars and the service guy gets 30. Do you think that's fair, Paul asked,....... yea! its hecka fair the young guy said, besides we ran ran along side the City Bus getting here instead of paying to ride and so we saved $1.40 bus faire each.
How many miles is it home, Paul asked, ....7 miles they both replied.

Paul got into his new car and as he was driving away, he said, do you guys realize that if you had run along side a Taxi, you could have saved $14.00 plus the tip, ..... the older guy took off his baseball cap and hit the younger fellow, see how smart that guy is, how come you is so stupid. The younger guy said, ...Yea but it was your idea to run all the way here so we could work more hours.

True story, it could have happened even in Alabama I suppose or even Modesto maybe. Some of the names and descriptions have been altered or changed to protect the stupid.
