Some may argue or laugh, but I like to think I run one of the nicest theatres in town. Then again, I am not technically in Vegas either. My theatre is in the Green Valley Ranch casino in Henderson. My theatre opened up 12/18/01. I admit I am company biased, but if I had to go to another theatre not REG, I will probably go to the Crown at Freemont Street because I know Dennis there gives a damn about the show. I know some people at the Brendon Palms and they are very nice but never seen a show there.

I have stated this before on this site, I will always invite fellow Film-Techers to my theatre. The only ones I know to date that have come by outside of Vegas is the group that Brad was with during this last ShoWest. I had just missed them that night they visited.

Chris does have a nice theater. I stopped by for a couple of photos but didn't see a show. And I think Dennis' theater (Neonopolis) is one of the few left that's not inside a casino, located at the Fremont Street Experience. The Brendan Theatre at the Palms casino finally finished their Imax theater.

The Huntridge is the only "classic" still standing, but from the looks of the exterior, I'm not sure I'd want to see what has happened to the interior. [Frown]

Under the advice of my attorney, I won't make comments about any specific 'Vegas theaters or chains here, but I have done so in the past as part of my TAP-style reviews (Whale Rider, Cowboy Bebop-The Movie, Spirited Away).

But to settle Scott down, I've had generally good experiences with Century at their Suncoast and Orleans locations here, even if Orleans was a surprise letdown for Whale Rider.

Unfortunately there are no fancy old theaters here any more (not that we really had any here to begin with--'Vegas never had any true movie palaces). All screens here now are standard-issue multiplex designs, no different from what you'd see anywhere else except for the fact that most of them are located within hotel/casinos. No single screens anymore save for the Luxor IMAX with its bizarre and uncomfortable house seating design. Not a single house in town has curtains (though the Boulder Theater in Boulder City probably still does).

I just returned from Vegas and the last thing I wanted to do is visit some theatre chain site...sorry guys but there are ALOT more fun things to do in Vegas than tour some plex [Razz]

Being a theatre manager in Vegas - I would have to agree that most people don't come to Vegas to watch a movie.However:

The 3 nicest theatres in town:

Crown Neonopolis 14
Regal Green Valley Ranch 10
Century Sam's Town 18

Those are in no specific order. Yes, my theatre is included. However, I have been to EVERY theatre in town to see a movie and these 3 are the best. I would have to thank John Moon, my chief projectionist (and his staff) for giving 'a damn' about presentation at the Neonopolis. Chris runs a fine operation over at the Green Valley Ranch and whoever is in charge at Sam's Town does a great job too. Most other theatres in town that I have visited have been very unimpressive - ESPECIALLY the Brendan Palms 14. Very poor presentation there (with a few forced visits there - bad, bad, bad).

Thanks for the advice, guys! The friend I am going with wants to see a film that's coming out that weekend, so I thought I'd just check in and find out what the quality theatres were in the area. (If I want to see dim images on a postage stamp screen I can get that from an 8-plex here in town, no need to travel!) [Big Grin]

Tell your friend that they should set an example to the industry and NOT go see a film opening weekend. They are helping the distributor get the lion's share of the box-office, thereby hurting the exhibitoin industry in the long run. If you want to see film, take in the IMAX Dome RACE FOR ATLANTIS ridefilm at Caesar's Palace or the MYSTERY OF THE OBELISK attraction at Luxor. Both are a kick!

I agree with the Crown Neonopolis. I stayed on Fremont Street last week and instead of blowing money at the tables we took in a movie to save a few dollars for a few hours.

Tickets were not priced bad especially for a bigger city. We saw Rundown and the presentation was very good, sound very good, clean auditorium, and a friendly staff.

If you are downtown I would recommend this theatre.......

Sorry guys but the corn maze in Farmington, UT has them all beat......believe me I know...I just got back from Vegas! You may get a kick out of the stuff in Vegas but you'll get a hoot out of this one......
Vegas has yet to have any corn maze at all and if they did the corn would have to be fake, or just an illusion....here we have the real thing thats 15 feet tall and its only 6 bucks admission to boot [thumbsup]

. Try this one first by moonlight then in pitch darkness. Heck if everyone knew about this place they'd all come to Farmington instead of Vegas. Running time of the maze all depends...... [Confused]

i'll probably take some heat for this, but the ONE conventional theatre I tried in Vegas was the UA on the strip. The presentation for Planet of the Apes was damned good. It was shown in a well-maintained THX auditorium. BUT, there was nothing special about this theatre complex at all. No Vegas style glitz and it is flushmounted into a parking lot.
