No, this is not a teasing subject line. That's the topic! Better than sex is a fairly common expression. But what actually is? Nominations, please!

Posted by Daryl C. W. O'Shea (Member # 1303) on 10-27-2003, 08:56 PM:

I suppose that might depend on how you define sex.

Posted by Steve Kraus (Member # 476) on 10-27-2003, 09:02 PM:

True...that might matter for some. Let's use a more inclusive definition...when anyone of these connects with anyone of those as opposed to the narrow Clintonion definition where sex only happens when this goes there.

(The latter definition also popular, if you read the papers, among the junior high set who deny that doing that "counted.")

So what does "Better than Sex" mean, really?

For instance, does it mean if there was a really hot babe standing next to you wearing little or no clothing saying, "Let's get it on, baby!", that you would turn the offer down in favor of the other thing that's (supposedly) better?

Posted by Steve Kraus (Member # 476) on 10-27-2003, 11:49 PM:

No idea...I don't use the expression. I don't suppose a tradeoff is absolutely required. How about "I've done A; I've done B. B is better."

There is a cake called a Better than sex cake. I have eaten it but I can't say it is better than sex.

The sleeping after the sex is, well I don't know if it's better, but it's damn close.

Chris: Depends on what one is "scratching"....

Bob: Yeah, leave it to you to fall asleep ***during*** sex...

according to one of the subjects in cinemania, watching movies is better than sex. hey, sometimes that's true.

Posted by Steve Kraus (Member # 476) on 10-28-2003, 10:26 AM:

There was an article in the papers recently about some folks who do nothing but attend movies all day and evening and to the extent any were gainfully employed it was only to support the habit. One got the impression that they would be lacking one half of the knowledge necessary to make a valid sex vs. movie-watching comparison.

It's like the common saying "the best thing since sliced bread". Well, what was the best thing before sliced bread?

Better than sex? Hmmm. That's a tough one, especially since I've never had sex. How about good affection and true love between people? I think that's the most important thing.

When sex is good, it's very good.

But when sex is bad, it's still pretty good.

Father Murphy and Rabbi Goldberg meet at an interdenominational convention.
"Is it true that your lot aren't allowed pork?" asks Murphy.
"Yes, it is," replies the Rabbi.
"And is it true that you aren't allowed sex?"
"That's right," answers the Father. "Have you ever tried pork?"
"I'm afraid so. I ate a sausage once. Have you ever tried sex?"
"Yes, I did once succumb to temptation and indulge in sex."
"Better than pork, isn't it?

I think David said it best.... NOTHING beats HOT, RAW SEX! YUM! Hubba Hubba!

Chris...yeah so? It STILL depends on who is on the "receiving" and the "giving" end as to the level of enjoyment....I hope you are not suggesting that one is "auto-scratching"? How boring... trust me, there are MUCH better things in life... [beer]

There may be some things better than sex, and some things worse than sex. But there is nothing exactly like it.

All right - none of the other film-tech women have touched this one yet with an answer... and I'm not bashful! [evil]

[sex] with oneself is better than bad [sex] with someone else, or mediocre [sex] with someone that's obnoxious.

But better than really good [sex] ?
How about 'more really good [sex] that doesn't lead to contracting an STD or an unwanted pregnancy'.

[Big Grin]

I may look all sweet and innocent, but I assure you, I'm far from it. [Wink]

Yeah, what Gracia said! You all know I'd love to comment but it seems Gracia beat me to it. Unfortunatly its hard to find somewhere around here to use a decent speed computer and I'm desperatly lacking my FT and my sex (I'm back in Mass visiting). Is FT better then sex??? NO! But more frequent, YES! [Razz]

What's better than sex? Lots of things. I mean, nookie is nice, but it is also highly overrated.

I'd rather win the lottery than get laid.

I'd rather visit my parents for week in Colorado than get laid.

The greatest accomplishments of my life thus far do not include getting laid anywhere near the top of the list. Items like earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree or even surviving a season of playing high school football gave me a better thrill than just getting nookie.

Now, if you are in a relationship with someone you truly love, who really honestly loves you back, that in and of itself is much better than sex.

As many on this board know (and as the rest will find out), when you bump up against fifty, and Private Schlong doesn't quite snap to attention like he used to, the things that gave you so much pleasure before lose some meaning. I mean, I had sex last night and it was fine, but I had a bowel movement this morning that almost brought tears to my eyes. Funny how the things you value change when you hit the half-century mark. . . Ah well. . .

Hmmmm... I totally disagree, Mark. ALL of my parts still work VERY well....Thank you! [beer]

This saying is soooo true: "Use It Or Lose It!" And I might add the word "often" to that! [evil]

Bowel movements are quite exciting, but they don't bring tears to my eyes out of sheer joy. Explosive bowel movements might bring a few tears due to the extreme stench that I have to bear.
