While this film has been and gone, I just have a bit if a query that some of my customers have asked.... Why are there numbers in the bottom right hand corner of screen every so often?

They are only on certain scenes, and are actually animated on - and change colour back and forth...

Any RugRats or Wild Thornberry's enthusiasts know?? was it for some US only promotion or something?

There were "Scratch & Sniff" cards that went along with that movie. The little scratch & sniff pictures on the card were numbered.

Thanks for the quick relply! Unfortunately, we didnt get any little scratch&sniff cards here in Oz... bit of a shame - would have been fun to have the audience all madly scratching and sniffing the cards in the right spots.

I assume then that the concept was that you would scratch a particular card (based on the number on screen) and smell the scent of whatever was on screen?

It was a promotion with I believe Blockbuster video and you got the scratch cards from the video store.

You got the 'Odorama' scratch-n-sniff cards with your 'Rugrats' tickets at the box office. Paramount sent truckloads of these things to the theatres about 3 weeks before the movie opened...

All of the different scents were on a single card on little 1" diameter spots. Yes, you got the concept right. Some of the smells were things like strawberries, smelly feet, dirty diapers, vomit, etc...

We didn't get ANY at the theater except for a few samples that were sent. The numbers on the card also glowed in the dark so the kids could see them, which was neat. Darryl says that they came from Block Buster, but I thought they came from Burger King. Either way, it was a cool idea. It's a shame you didn't get any with your print. There probably are thousands of them still sitting in boxes somewhere.

It could have been burger king I couldn't remember for sure but I do know we didn't get truck loads at the theater. Matter of fact we didn't get any at the theater.

I still have a huge stack of "Odorama" cards at my house from a screening I was involved with at film festival in VA. I have to keep them in plastic because they frickin' stink horrible. [bs]

If I remember correctly, we also ran William Castle's "The Tingler" with the seats wired up to buzz some of the viewers. [Eek!]
