There was a time when I used to get very bored when I traveled on planes and for reasons I cannot explain, I could not read anything for a long period of time. I have also found sleeping very difficult. I was never interested in inflight movie and audio entertainment because of the poor sound and picture quality. As you can see, long distance traveling used to be a drag until I got my hands on my first Gameboy. Hours just passed very quickly after I started to play with "my new toy'' The first one I used was their introductory model and have owned every model Nintendo had introduced and the one I am now using is the new Advance SP. My brother and my sister think I am being childish when I spend most of my free time playing with my Gameboy because they think it is a child's plaything but I have to differ. I have never been interested in the kind of games children enjoy but love TETRIS, and my four in one software that includes Backgammon, Checkers, Chess and Reversi. Beside Tetris and my four in one game, my favorite is "DR MARIO". The software for that game I am still using is the one I bought with my very first Gameboy and it is in black & white. I used to have one in Color for my home Nintendo video game player but sold it with the player years ago. I was told by the owner of a video game store that "DR MARIO"" used to be very popular but there are no plans at the moment to introduce an "Advance SP" version of the game. As you can see, I enjoy puzzle games and would appreciate it if anyone could recommend other games like "DR MARIO" and "TETRIS" .

Thanks Manny,

I do have a portable DVD player and a Bose noise canceling headset and I have been taking them with me on trips. The battery life on the player is only long enough to watch one feature length move. Bummers! It's not too bad if I was flying to the west coast but it can get very boring when I have to fly to the mid west or to the east coast.

Portable DVD player with noise canceling headset + Gameboy = Great trip!

I carry my iPod with me on airplanes. Sometimes, I'll pack some sheet music and follow along with the music. That approach is good for about an hour or so (but the iPod can go for several hours on a full charge).

Even though I carry it almost all the time, I have yet to bust out the laptop and write my novel in-flight. However, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Nassau International Airport offers free high-speed wi-fi internet access.

Hell Yeah Gameboy's RULE.....

I have an Advance SP and it plays ALL of the Game Boy Advance games.....There arent any made for Advance SP

I also believe you can play Game Boy Color Games on Advance SP

Not sure about B&W original though.

I don't mind admitting that my three grandsons ages : 12 10 and 7 wiped me out in gameboy and any video game. But it was downright embarrasing when when my 7 year old granddaughter throughly wipe me out also.

I was seriously thinking about opening this same thread.

I have a GBA SP and the most played game is still the original tetris. It amazes me that I Still use soemthing that I got for my 10th birthday. I usually play RPG games like Golden Sun too.

anyway, forget what anyone else thinks about it, I hope when I am that age that I will still be into stuff like this and not a bitter old man.

Chris...at ANY age, one is only as "old" or "young" as they ***THINK***.

I know young people that are "old farts" and I know older people that refuse to lose that "spark" and inquisitiveness of youth.

I have several examples in mind of who I DO NOT want to be like when I "grow up!" If I fail, and turn out to be an old bitter geezer, then please...someone shoot me!

Thinking I was too old for a gameboy - I bought a Nintendo emulator for my Sony Clie. Most people think I am actually doing something important on my Palm -when I am playing my favorite Nintendo game.........

Many adults don't want to admit they like playing video games. They'll certainly do anything to avoid the embarrasment of being caught with a little kiddie toy like a Game Boy.

I guess that's why cell phone companies are trying to incorporate video games into phones. I think putting games into cell phones is a bad idea. No joystick. People are going to get carpal tunnel syndrome from that, not to mention eye strain. Oh yeah, and lets not forget the people who have to yak on the phone 100% of the time when they drive. I would not put it past some selfish moron to try to play a cellphone game while driving. The only justice would be that bastard getting only himself killed in an accident. But with the way life works the idiot will kill others in the process. As you might guess, I have a pretty low opinion of cellphone use in cars, and cell phones in general.

I would also like to add that I think Nintendo hit the nail on the head with the SP.

The folding is a great idea! My orignal GBA screen was scratched so bad from carrying it around in my pocket.

Backlighting, it's about time.

Built in rechargable Lithium Ion battery.

Hmm... I have two brothers, and one sister, ages 22, 6, and 4. They each have their own GameBoy. The 22 year old has one of the 'old school' ones, where each of the little ones has a GameBoy Advance.

I must say that I'm starting to feel a little jealous, I'm the only 'kid' in the family without one!

OK, so I play with them when they're not looking / at school / etc. And hands down, Tetris has to be my favorite. I do love Dr. Mario on the NES, but none of my siblings have it for the GameBoy. Games they do have that I like to play (other than Tetris) would be Yoshi's Cookie (puzzle game), Ducktales (adventure), and whatever they called the Mario adventure game for the original GameBoy.

I have no qualms about admitting my love of video games.

I agree with everybody. I´m not nearly my real age, and I probably never will be, if I ever was. At 26 I´m 14½, and I don´t seem to be getting older.

I too love videogames. Me and some friends started buying cheap broken playstation 2 on the internet, fixed them up (usually not at all hard) and sold them to friends, so now everybody plays PS2, and I love it. Great games, great graphics and fun for ever. Granted it´s not easy to travel with, but when I travel I too break out my old original Gameboy and play Bugs Bunnies castle. Or I play solitaire on my cell phone, but I share Bobbys sentiment on the possible developments, and totaly support making it illegal to not use hands free in the car. Then again I hear of people having PS2 in their cars, but maybe not for the driver... I don´t have that problem as of yet, missing drivers license and all, but I´m still okay for another year or so...

PS I´ve been having trouble previewing posts, is that some setting with me, or is anybody else having the same problem (or nobody uses the feature). Spell check works fine, and I´m on a PC, IE 6, with Norton Personal Firewall if relevant DS

Speaking of the cell phone use in the car. I recently purchased a 2002 Impala. One of the cool features that comes with the OnStar system is a cell phone setup that works through your car stereo system. Now I can push the blue button and place my calls verbally. :-)
