I could show ya Phil, but for some reason every time I save that picture (to edit an arrow into) I get a picture of ME instead bitchin' about stealing things. Is it supposed to be like that Daryl? If so, that's incredibly lame. If it's me, then nevermind. I would do a screen capture and then crop but I am too lazy.

Anyway Rockwall is on the right side of DallASS. Most people swear up and down that Rockwall does not exist.

The roadway design is way more inefficient in Denver than Dallas. I think a large portion of the reason why drivers are so crappy is that there is no IQ test to pass when getting a driver's license. You should at least have an IQ of 135 to get one.

Actually, IMHO most of the roadways in the United States are inefficiently designed compared to other developed countries. Maybe it's the traffic engineers who need the higher IQ (not that IQ means much).

Dallas streets are pretty bad, but I agree it is mostly the retard drivers. It is not uncommon to creep along at 5mph for over a mile when the wreck is on the other side of the road.

There should also be some sort of PSA to explain the purpose of the entrance ramp.

Round-a-bouts are fine, and actually more efficient, for lower traffic densities if designed properly. The problem is the bureaucrats that don't want to pay to get rid of them when cities grow and traffic density rises.

And people are so ignorant/impatient they don't realize about the trailer off-tracking, so they try to come around me. Then, I have to stand on the brakes to keep from running over them. I could go on and on about stupid drivers in 4-wheelers! You wouldn't believe some of the chances they take with big rigs.

Like Gracia said, New England is the worst for poorly-designed roads. Sometimes on a 4-lane road (2 each direction), the right lane is a right-turn only and ends; sometimes the left one is the one that ends. There are no signs or road markings telling you this is going to happen, you just have to know it. Also, they never saw fit to post street signs anywhere. Most (MA, at least) are not marked in any way!

But the most utterly stupid thing I've ever seen is the way pedestrians cross the street. They didn't seem to learn in elementary school to look both ways and wait for traffic to stop before crossing the street! They just start walking, without even looking!! Every week on the news, you hear about someone getting hit, and guess who gets charged with the accident? Forget that the guy walked out in front of you 10 ft. from the crossing, it doesn't matter to MA.

I disagree with that. On the basis of road design, the United States has the largest and most advanced road system on the planet. My jaw falls agape at some of the engineering marvels such as the Dallas High Five interchange project (LBJ Freeway and North Central in North Dallas). America is the only place with road projects as grand as that. The roads in Europe, Asia, Austrailia and all other developed nations are smaller and very cramped. Canada is the only country whose roads are designed with some similarity of scale to the U.S.

The problem with our road system is NO BALANCE. Everyone drives. Most other developed nations in the world have well maintained mass-transit systems, many of which cover the entire country. In Japan, all you need to get around is a fold up bicycle to get you to the nearest train station. You can go anywhere in the country because passenger rail is ubiquitous. The same can be said for many areas of Europe.

In the United States, mass transit for the most part is a disaster. The only networks that function well at all are the oldest ones in New York, Boston and Chicago. Mass transit systems in America are rife with corruption, especially in new construction projects. Why should it cost billions upon billions of dollars just to build a damned light rail system!?

Another problem in the U.S. is the powerful auto-industry, road and airline lobbies. They all do a great job for killing off any efforts in developing mass transit alternatives, particularly anything rail-related. I think the United States is a laughing stock for not having any kind of modern, high-speed rail network. The AmTrak Acela Train on the Eastern Seaboard hardly counts either; that only serves the DC/Philly/NYC/Boston corridor on a single line. It pales in comparison to the TGV in France or Shinkansen ("Bullet Train") in Japan.

I find that if I don't use the URL tags correctly, UBB will add another set the right way. Otherwise making a link by typing in the URL tags always makes a link for me.

Well something somewhere must be different, as I've never had any reason to do it differently. Maybe I tried using quotes like real HTML or something and got confused by the forum's psuedo HTML. I'm not sure, but I think vBulletin can handle the quotes. I'll have to try.

Here it is with quotes around the tags' attribute:

[url= http://"http://www.film-tech.com"]Film-Tech Link[/url]

That rocks. UBB is weak. What's even more weird is when someone like Pytlak posts a giant link and I shorten it. I only shorten the stuff outside of the brackets and leave everything inside alone, and when I submit it gets messed up. I then have to copy the URL and use the button.
