While booking a hotel room earlier today I had the pleasure of receiving an e-mail from a lady with the wonderful job title of " Cluster Revenue Supervisor"
What other meaningless job titles have you come across?

Dick--
How about the true occupation title PROJECTIONIST, instead
of POPCORN SHOVELER - TICKETCATCHER - JANITOR - and everything else around a theatre - and sometimes "ruining" everything in
the booth. Believe me, there are a couple hundred theatres
here that operate under those conditions.

Saw this written in the dirt on the back of an 18-wheeler and made it a point to remember it...
"Surface Manual-Guidance Contractual Commodity Articulated Transportation Engineering Specialist."
= "Trucker"
"Customer Relations Associate" = The person who DOES NOT answer the phone while you wait on hold. *Please continue to hold. Your call is important to us*
"Associate", especially in the retail field = A person with no job security.

Usher "B"
AJG

Good one!
Except for a recent visit to a baseball stadium I couldn't tell you the last time I saw an usher actually "ush."
Ask a theater usher today to escort someone to a seat and you'll get total confusion or a dose of heavy whining.

We have a concession supervisor who refers to himself as a "Popcorn Engineer" for a good laugh.

My 16-year-old daughter works the candy stand at our theater and she calls herself a "Refreshment Consultant."
Yeah, she's nuts. Runs in the family.
"Theater Manager" = Closet power-mad despot and bully-from-hell who becomes Mr. Hyde as soon as theater owner leaves.
"Petrochemical Transferral Engineer" = Guy at the gas station.

When I worked at the post production center I was Chief Engineer there although we were very small and I did pretty much everything at one time or another. But I liked to give my title as Sergeant at Arms. Or Chief Cook and Bottle Washer.

Ian Price, Managing Member = Co Owner who also works at the place.

Progression of titles in the airline biz:
Ticket/Gate Agent --> Passenger Service Agent --> Customer Service Representative
Stewardess --> Flight Attendant --> Cabin Attendant
Dumb Co-Pilot --> First Officer
Pilot --> Captain --> Aircraft Commander...

Paul, I think you forgot:
flight engineer --> unemployed
I was always the annoying kid who would ask to see the cockpit in every commercial plane. I met many flight engineers on 727s, L-1011s, and DC-10s in the late '80s.

Around the Pacific NW a lot of money is made in the charter industry...small boats that take fishermen out so they can sport fish.
One of the positions on the boat is a "baiter"...the guy that puts bait on the hook for the guys fishing. It's a somewhat skilled job.
You start off as an apprentice baiter and wind up as a master....

This writing on the back of a trailer works:

Many tour busses that rock and roll bands travel in have those scrolling signs above the front window that say things like, "Private Charter", etc.
I have seen one or two of them that have custom sayings like, "SHOWUSYOURTITS!"
I once saw a bumper sticker on the back of an 18-Wheeler that said:
Please don't tell my parents I'm a truck driver!
They think I'm a piano player in a whorehouse!

Some other military (and very very non-PC) ones:
MFWIC
HNIC
Or if you work on a poultry farm, you could be a:
Chicken Sexer

Posted by Paul Mayer (Member # 355) on 03-14-2004, 06:58 PM:
OK, I'll bite:
"Son of a window dresser"...
Posted by Tim Reed (Member # 137) on 03-18-2004, 10:05 PM:
Heh-heh, actually, I posted that with you in mind, Paul! I remembered your replies to Python references in the past.

For those with Spoonerist minds
how about becoming a Pheasant Plucker
Posted by Craig Hanham (Member # 1010) on 03-24-2004, 02:19 AM:
Just look at some of the public sector Job Titles.
I used to be "The Memorial Theatre and Student Union Technical Coordinator"
More of a job deescription than a title.
