Today I encountered a sitauation that I am still dyin of laughter about.

As many of you know, I am currently attending Arizona State University-East. Our campus is located on the former Williams AFB. This former AFB not only comprises ASU-East, but also Chandler-Gilbert Community College, Williams-Gateway Airport and still some military activity.

Anyhow, our dining hall is opened to the public, and the military does make use of it.

This morning, our cafeteria had the "honor" of serving our troops in uniform.

Anyhow,this was a group of Army Military Police. Part of thier uniform is black berets. Anyhow, in the U.S. military, head covering is not permitted indoors, while being required outdoors. Its all about proper military etiquette (dress and appearance).

So, whats so funny? This group of MP's had faces that were sunburned, and they really did look like lobsters....except for where their berets created neat little "tan-lines" from mid-forhead on up!

Since I am a USAF Vet, as well as the demented practical joker y'all know me to be...I just had to ask these guys about their incompetitent Supply people, First Sergeant and Commander who would allow them to take part in an excersise without being properly prepared? As it turned out, their First Shirt and Commander were among this group I addressed! [Big Grin]

And to make a bad situation even worse...they were not even taking part in an exercise! Rather they were "practicing" for an activation ceremony...aka..."parade"...or better known as...KISS THE BRASS'S ASSES!

The Commander's excuse...he did'nt contemplate the situation! DUH...where in the desert DUMBSHIT! [Eek!]

Ah those were the days. I remember my days of young at Yuma Proving Grounds in Arizona near the mexican border, and the hourly and round the clock bombing runs and explosives detonations. OH YAH!!!

My best friend in the whole world back then was Trey Woodmansee. We were always getting into trouble. Well at least we tried to. Hard to get into trouble when your best friends dad is Colonel Woodmansee, Base Commander. Then again, it was good to never actually get into trouble for anything.

The looks the military police would get when they finally caught up with us and realized it was trey and dave.

I could never figure out how my dad was best buds with a colonel. he was a lowly tech sergeant, always on overseas missions and never able to tell us what he really did for the military other than to say that he "fixed computers". I failed to see the logic for sending my dad to china to fix computers. I mean he couldnt even get the toaster to make good toast!

Then again, maybe that set me up for always getting into trouble later in life, you know, without some damned base commanders kid to mooch off of.
