I will be going to San Antonio for the weekend, because I could really use some time off. Does anyone know of any good theaters there that I should pay a visit too. The only one I have been to is the Quarry 14 (Regal). I think its 14. Anyways, Im going to the IMAX on the riverwalk, but are there any other good ones?

I didnt go inside but there is an AMC 24 off of the I10 service road that looked pretty nice as far as the building and lobby.

San Antonio used to have a number of all-THX certified multiplex sites (I think they were ACT III locations). All of those certifications have since lapsed. The only all-THX multiplex in Texas now is the Century 16 in Corpus Christi. It's kind of shocking how the THX screen count has deteriorated. There used to be a lot of THX sites in Texas. Now there's just a few odd Carmike and UA locations, with the Century plex in Corpus to round out things. Too bad.

The Silverado on loop 1604 is new and has a bar in the lobby. The Bijou at Crossroads on loop 410 is a nice art/bistro theatre concept. While in the area check out the Majestic downtown, performance theatre that will have an "Alamo" premier.

Sorry to get off the topic regarding good San Antonio theatres, but THX is turning out to be a big joke in my area. For some reason, Signature theatres is making a big deal about THX at their Dole Cannery 18 theatres by advertising "Hawaii's only THX Theatres", "See it in THX", "You have not seen it if it was not in THX", etc. Because of convenience, I have been going to the Dole Cannery a lot lately. I saw "TLTR-Return of The King" there in one of their large house and thre was no LFE and the movie sounded like the auditorium did not have any sunwoofers. I saw "THE TWO TOWERS" the previous year at Pacific's Ward 16 and the sound was just incredible. My sound system att home is not THX but it sounds a hundred times better than the Dole Cannery when I play my THX demo DVD.
