What would you want to do at a Walmart?
I know that you all can come of with some crazy ideas.
I was just there today... Wasn't there for very long so I couldn't come up with anything really creative.

Are YOU "CHECKING" me out?

CareBears are so cute!!

NO... I'm NOT HUGE... The chair is just really small.. Its SO CUTE!!

OMG!! Detective CareBear...

BTW: What sorta *examination* is that "doctor" offering? Just curious...
Edit: OK Aaron you prevert! I posted! (GOD! I hate it when anyone thinks/knows that I WILL post something!)

Well I'll tell (and show) ya what I'd do at Wal*Mart, if for some reason I needed to be there (of all places).
[av=p]

First I'd play my geetar. I mean heck... it's WAL*MART! It's synonomous with low quality entertainment like myself.

And obviously I'd spend a great deal of time harrassing the customers and other low-lifes who hang at Da 'Mart.

Ya know Joe, I can't help but think the song you're singing in that 1st pic is "Sugar Daddy" from the film "Hedwig and the Angry Inch"...

I would probably knock all the stuff off the shelves and then tell a manager that two guys are knocking all the crap off the shelves. One is wearing a cowboy hat, and the other a pirate hat, and that they told some girl to sit on the checkout counter in order to distract them. Thats what I would do. Jen, you have some of the best topics on FT, keep em coming!!

When in there, it seems like I am being herded around like cattle.
There's a new one being built... a SUPER Wal*Mart... Oooh.
Then, the old one will just sit there empty. Just like the old ones in Knoxville, TN, and Charlotte, NC do.
What do I do? Follow Joe Redifer around setting up his sound systems, of course!

Posted by Phil Hill (Member # 371) on 04-01-2004, 07:36 PM:
Randy, that's a great example of stereotyping. For example I can tell "JUST" by looking:
The green lady is ONLY after money and will take you to the cleaners without a ticket.
The blue lady is very depressed and will drag you down into a life of negatives, feelings of self-worthlessness, drug and alcohol abuse, and you’ll become unemployed and a street-person begging for money on Sunset Blvd.
Now, that HOT red lady: She will give HOT, sweaty sex and be true to you for life! Ummmm... well at least for 20 minutes.
And that’s where it all comes back to the “green” lady and eventually the “blue” lady.
(Sorry, just couldn’t resist!)

Posted by Randy Stankey (Member # 64) on 04-02-2004, 12:36 PM:
Yep!
- Magic lasso to copy one chick out of her background.
- Copy/Paste to duplicate the image.
- Levels to colorize.
- Render Clouds to make a new background layer.
- Colorize the background layer.
- Resize, flatten & export to JPEG.
I wanted to use texture mapping & color palatte shifting to make one more girl that looked like a Technicolor zebra. (GIMP has excellent mapping & color shifting tools!) I decided to do it quick and dirty with Photoshop because I figured it was too much work for such a silly joke. It was just as funny...at least I HOPE y'all thought it was funny!

What would I like to do at a Wal-Mart?
Start a demolition derby in the parking lot. It would be fun to plow through some vehicles and smash through a big train of shopping carts!
On this whole interracial dating thing, even though my luck has not been the greatest lately I can say with some pride I have been more open minded than most on that subject. The last lady I dated was Korean. Two of my previous girlfriends were of the African American persuation. Well, actually they were both mixed-race (white and black parents) so does that count? More often than not, I usually date White women only because there's just more of them around here than anyone else. Haven't dated any Latina ladies (yet). Oh well, the fellows just need to remember something I heard on South Park: "they're all pink inside!"

And for anyone wondering what they can get up to in the electrical department at Wal Mart, here's another suggestion:
quote:
When I was a student at the Freie Universität Berlin (Germany) in 1983, I faithfully attended the weekly lecture on Gerichtsmedizin (forensic medicine) that was based on the grim harvest of the West Berlin police department. Apart from the gruesome, the horrifying (child abuse!) and the plain morbid, there were a few candidates who'd undoubtedly qualify for a Darwin Award.
One that sticks out in my mind was the lamentable case of a middle-aged West Berliner whose autoerotic proclivities and aspirations as an amateur electrician provided a spark of levity for the permanently nauseous audience.
This gentleman had -- presumably by a process of trial and error that I leave others to speculate about -- arrived at the conclusion that ramming a "candle"-shaped lightbulb up his rectum was a pretty darn pleasant experience, especially when practised in combination with a small leather harness attached to his procreative equipment.
Unfortunately, he must have felt uncomfortable by the initial chill emanating from the cold glass of the lightbulb. But necessity is the mother of invention: He detached socket, switch, and power cord from an ordinary table lamp and adapted them to his specific purpose, put the harness on his little friend, and proceded to amuse himself with the now instantly heatable lightbulb in his rear end.
Tragically, his skills as an electrician were vastly inferior to his inventiveness. While happily playing with his new toy, his shoddy workmanship sent 240V through his body, electrocuting him in flagranti.
A slide of his contraption... pluss harness... and his inspirational story were part of the standard lecture on Gerichtsmedizin (forensic medicine) at the Freie Universität Berlin back in the summer semester of 1983... and presumably longer.

The truth is that I have never been out with a white girl, I made out with one once but never spoke to her again. Other than that they have been mostly black. I do have a weakness, maybe even a fetish for dark skin. However, it isnt about skin, it is about culture, I cant stand being anywhere near the "hip hop", "gangsta", or whatever you want to call it pop culture. If you remember my rant in the Politcal forum then you will know why.
As far as my family, nothing is more important to me than my family's acceptance, they are the only ones that have always been there and always will be there. I am not going to throw that away over some poon-tang.
As far as JP's shoes, I am not going to go anywhere near anything of JP's and JP is not coming near anything of mine.

What would you want to do at a Walmart? Stop it from ever being built, if you live in Inglewood, CA...

LA voters send Wal-Mart packing
Voters in the Los Angeles suburb of Inglewood have delivered a decisive snub to supermarket giant Wal-Mart. By a two-to-one majority, they vetoed a proposal to build a 60-acre megastore, the size of 17 football fields.
Wal-Mart won the right to a public vote after Inglewood authorities denied it permission to build. "This was a major victory," said state assemblyman Jerome Horton, who together with officials, religious leaders and unions has bitterly opposed Wal-Mart.
This is not the first time that Wal-Mart has turned to a ballot on its "big-box" stores, which require exceptional planning permission in most areas. But Inglewood was to spearhead a wave of 40 proposed Supercenter stores across California.
The plan was supported by Inglewood's mayor, Roosevelt Dorn. Mr Dorn argued that the Supercenter would create 1,000 new jobs in the low-income suburb, as well as adding up to $5m to his administration's annual tax revenues.
"We're talking about a new police station, a new community and cultural centre... upgrades for every park and recreation area in Inglewood," Mr Dorn said before the vote. "As far as I'm concerned, it's a no-brainer."
Wal-Mart launched an aggressive campaign in favour of its proposal, including broadcast advertising, flyers and telephone marketing.
Mr Dorn was the only local official on Wal-Mart's side, however. Part of the opposition to the plan stemmed from the threat to smaller retailers; unions, meanwhile, were concerned that Wal-Mart would drive down wages and discourage organised labour.
But most opponents were swayed by the draconian terms of the proposed development, which would effectively have exempted Wal-Mart from all local planning, zoning and environmental regulations. In effect, they argued, the retail complex would become an autonomous city-within-a-city.
"This would have set a national precedent and developers all over the nation were watching to see whether or not a developer could exempt themselves from complying with local laws," Mr Horton argued. "This was a much bigger issue than just jobs."
The vote is the biggest defeat so far for Wal-Mart's Californian campaign. Last year, voters in Oakland turned down a proposed Supercenter. But since then, it has scored victories in Contra Costa and Calexico, where voters have overturned restrictions on planning.
Since the Inglewood proposal contained such liberal terms for the retailer, it was seen as the most important case so far. Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, is not currently popular in California.
Its relatively low wages and employee benefits have forced local retailers to follow suit, something which sparked a bitter strike by Californian supermarket workers earlier this year.

Just as long as Jen's not choking a chicken...
And speaking of Colored Chicks
Multi-coloured chicks for Easter

The dye comes off as the chicks grow new feathers
A farm in the northern US state of Alaska has given Easter egg decoration a whole new meaning.
Triple D Farm and Hatchery, in Palmer, injects the eggs with dye to produce multi-coloured baby chicks.
Children visiting the farm in the run-up to Easter were met with more than 400 orange, red, green, purple, pink and blue chickens and ducks.
Farm owners insist the non-toxic dye is harmless and temporary, disappearing as the animals grow their new feathers.
"It's something we've done at Easter time for the last few years," Phyllis Burney, fiancee of owner Anthony Schmidt, told BBC News Online.
"It's mainly for the children. They are quite in awe when they come to the farm and see the multi-coloured chicks.
'Blue mother'
"One little boy came with his kindergarten last week and when he was asked how the chick became blue, said it was because it had a blue mother," said Ms Burney.
The dye, which the farm insists does not contain chemicals, is injected into ordinary chicken eggs a few weeks before Easter.
The baby chicks are not hurt, but provide a psychedelic spectacle when they hatch.
"The dye doesn't last much more than a couple of weeks, once the chicks' new feathers come through," said Ms Burney.
The farm, near the capital, Anchorage, annually colours around 200 baby chickens and 200 baby ducks.

Thanks for that article. I lost track of the goings on there in Inglewood and wondered what did happen with Wal-Mart. Sort of hits the nail on the head with why alot of us don't like Wal-Mart or Sam's Club. I was surprised as to how many Seattlites really dislike those stores.
Have never shopped in either of them and don't plan to in my lifetime.

Yay! I brought this back up...
For the fact that there just so happens to be a McDonald's in this Walmart that came with a really HOT Ronald! The initial plan for taking this picture was to have it look like I was making out with Ronald but that lady that sat next to him would be completely jealous if I did.
(So imagine me sitting on Ronald's lap

Why is it that every person in Wal*Mart commercials talks like a hick with an IQ of 4? I assume they use real Wal*Mart customers and employees. Perhaps I've answered my own question.

Is that what you would do to a Wal*mart mannequin Jason?
Posted by Adam Wilbert (Member # 1184) on 01-23-2005, 11:06 PM:
My girlfriend wanted a pair of pants off of a manequin at JC Penny the other day, and the girl working in the area told me to go ahead and take them off. I still feel really wierd about undressing a manequin and leaving her there with only a t-shirt on and her barbie-like nudeness from the waist down exposed for the world to see.

Funny story, though it reads like it's been embellished--the revenge is a little too good. Still, it's immensely satisfying to read about fucking with the single-helix types, especially when they're your former bosses.

One of the ASDA (Walmart) stores up north has switched to using a local dialect rather than English. (Although since many of their customers find it difficult to construct a coherent sentence it may be a waste of time)
From http://news.scotsman.com/aberdeen.cfm?id=251092005
quote:
SUPERMARKET giant Asda has ditched English and introduced signs in a local dialect in a new Scottish store, it emerged today.
Bosses at the Asda superstore in Peterhead decided to put up all of its signs in Doric - the traditional language of Scotland’s north-east.
All directional signs in the store, and some of the Asda promotional sayings, have been translated into the local tongue.
"Welcome to Asda" has been changed to "Come Awa In", while "Always Happy to Help" and "Always Low Prices" have been translated into "Wid Aye Gie Ye a Han" and "Easy on the Pooch".
Even the toilets in the store have been given a regional twist, with the ladies labelled as "Quines".
On leaving the store a sign also reads "Hist ye Back" - meaning "Come Again Soon".
The Doric signs were translated by the Buchan Heritage Society.
Store manager Craig Patterson said: "We hope our decision to introduce the Doric signs will give the dialect a real boost."
