Simply put in the title, does a fish yawn? What about a chicken or a bird? Do all animals yawn?

Any one have a picture of a fish yawning?

"What if my fish 'yawns'?
Little is known about this behaviour, but in some cases it appears to be a response to poor water quality, so check ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate... Other factors which should be considered are oxygen depletion, incorrect pH, chemical poisoning..."

This probably doesn't apply to birds, but there you go.

I had fun finding pictures online of varies species yawning... Apparently fish yawn when their water is not clean (like Adam said).

I'm a little late on this but, as was said above, fish do yawn when they aren't getting enough oxygen, etc. I've seen it. It looks more like "gulping".

What I really want to know is:

Do fish FART?

I am sure fish do fart but I know that whales do, there was an article on Yahoo news a while back with a picture of the whale "flatulence"

If anyone were asking me what I thought that picture is, which I dont think anyone is, I would guess it is an eel. it could be a fish though, since the thread is about yawning fish.

I live on an acre with a water canal in the back so the only one that can hear the two big chicks is my next door neighbor...who used to have 20 chickens before he got too old to take care of them.....he has six bird feeders in his acre plus backyard so we have an average of 200 green parrots every morning flying in for breakfast....nice location, 4 minutes to I-95, 12 minutes from my office, between Miami and Ft. Lauderdale Airports and 15 minutes from South Beach.....besides the birds are too evil tempered to eat [evil]

...I need the exercise chasing them ( and them chasing back when they are pissed )....Besides, Costo has a good deal on Chicken breast by the 10 pound bag [Big Grin]

Yes, the word is stuck in my mind from running RHPS 100+ times in the late 1970's [Razz]
