I was in a platter booth (that makes it a nightmare, right?) and the film taking up was covered with dirt clumps, and fuzzballs and scrapings like it was being mangled. Then I woke up. I only rarely remember dreams which is just as well by me. But it's very disconcerting to think I'd be dreaming of projection...and platters at that...instead of, say, Jen and her guitar. At least I'd rather go back to dreaming of trains.

That all depends. What kind of platters were they?

Steve
It sounds like you were in the Loew's/Cineplex Beverly Center in Los Angeles. Because thats always the way I picture it when I did preview screenings there.

Awww... How sweet

Sweet? I call that sticky.

Ummm... I need to jump in the shower now...

ah now the shower scene
Is it getting hot in here

Now that's what I'm talkin' about... Who would like to join me?
Posted by Robert L. Fischer (Member # 2424) on 06-29-2004, 02:47 AM:
I've never dealt with a platter-related disaster that wasn't the direct result of someone else's negligence (like leaving a booth after threading not noticing that the film was wrapping continuously). I'll defend platters to the death because as long as I'm the projectionist, things go smoothly.
Sorry to get off subject; guitars are cool. I like them better than projectors, actually.
Posted by Jeremy Fuentes (Member # 2135) on 06-29-2004, 06:18 AM:
A hot girl starts talking about someone joining her for a shower, and you can still talk about projectors and guitars.

Jen tried to reply but there seemed so much email to you that the whole internet stopped

There's a theater here that closed about 3 years ago that I've been yearning to open so bad it gives me an ulcer.
For a couple weeks, I'd have these recurring dreams of driving to that theater, unlocking the doors, going to the booth and building all the prints for the "opening." It wouldn't always be the same way, though. These dreams were progressive.
The first few, the theater looked as it did now -- empty and closed. Later on, as I drove up to the theater in subsequent dreams, the sign was up. Then there were posters in the cases. I remember one where I walked by the concession counter on the way to the booth, and it was stocked....
I think I know what these dreams mean. Who wants to help me open this thing??????

I will.
Posted by Robert L. Fischer (Member # 2424) on 06-29-2004, 01:17 PM:
If it were a hot girl in my shower, it'd be a different story.
But Arizona? Too far to worry about...
Posted by Christopher Seo (Member # 7) on 06-29-2004, 02:20 PM:
I think changeover dreams are scarier. I had a dream where I started R-1, and then realized I only had one projector and had to set up another one before it was time to make the changeover.
Posted by Steve Kraus (Member # 476) on 06-29-2004, 06:16 PM:
Eh...Mark G. once replaced a stripped Brenkert shutter gear while a show was running (6000' reels) and had it ready to go in time for the projectionist to make the changeover.
Jen, I'll give you a shiny new quarter if you illustrate this thread with a pic of you peaking out from behind a shower curtain.
Posted by Jennifer Pan (Member # 2035) on 06-29-2004, 06:35 PM:
Ha Ha. It will take more than a quarter to do that...
Posted by Phil Hill (Member # 371) on 06-29-2004, 06:38 PM:
Ok... I bid $1.00...

you guys should just head over to Yafro . There are plenty of girls craving attention that dont mind showing it all. Judging by the way everyone drools over JP, one would think that noone on this site has ever even seen a girl.
By the way, I did have a dream about work where I was told to either starting combing my hair or find somewhere else to work.

I don't think anyone is seriously drooling but enjoying some fun with no political or hurtfull spiteful jibes for a change. If Jen was offended and it continued then that would be a different story
So now where was that bidding at?
Posted by Rachel Gilardi (Member # 1016) on 06-29-2004, 07:41 PM:
I think Jen likes attention a little too much...
Posted by Jennifer Pan (Member # 2035) on 06-29-2004, 07:49 PM:
Rachel: Completely True. In so many words I'd rather not say.
Posted by Gordon McLeod (Member # 33) on 06-29-2004, 08:11 PM:
doesn't want to say
Phil correct me if I am wrong but isn't a picture worth a thousand words
oh by the way I raise the bid to $2.00 your turn phil

Gordie... is that Canadian dollars or US$?

now "how much for your women how much for the little girl" bluesbrothers
Posted by Steve Kraus (Member # 476) on 06-29-2004, 11:07 PM:
Chris, I was only suggesting a shot of her peeking from behind a curtain, revealing nothing and probably fully clothed. Sell the sizzle not the steak.
And what is the business model for Yafro? Suddenly turn it into a pay site like the "meet me" side of Hot Or Not?
Posted by Chris Hipp (Member # 1788) on 06-30-2004, 03:02 AM:
They say that they are just funding Yafro with the same money that they get from HotorNot. I doubt it will be long before they start charging, then it will just be a porn site like the rest of them.

Yeah and strange that YOU who "doesn't like me" can find nothing better to do than comment about me.
Posted by Jeremy Fuentes (Member # 2135) on 06-30-2004, 06:25 AM:
Good point Jen!! Bid-2 dollars and some movie passes.
Posted by Steve Kraus (Member # 476) on 06-30-2004, 09:15 AM:
Like the rest of them what? Hot Or Not is a sort of Rate My Face site with a subsidiary matchmaking feature. Certainly not porn (everything is reviewed by volunteer moderators before it hits the site. The criteria is PG13.) although I do have an office worker friend whose employer's mindless filters block it, probably just because it has "hot" in the URL and no one bothered to actually look.
Back when it was still called Am I Hot or Not there were numerous parody sites including "Am I Goth or Not," "Am I Jailbait or Not" and even "Am I All Your Base Or Not." (From the All Your Base Are Belong To Us fad)
Posted by Gordon McLeod (Member # 33) on 06-30-2004, 12:46 PM:
up the bid 3 dollars and the IMAX experience

I was referring to Yafro, in case you have not been there, you cannot avoid seeing nakedness. Unfortunately, it isnt just the girls getting naked.
Posted by Steve Kraus (Member # 476) on 06-30-2004, 05:00 PM:
Yes I'm familiar with the site but I got bored with it after about a day. I'm more interested what they plan to do with it. If it just turns into a naughty matchmaking pay site there is already Adultfriendfinders.com and probably many others.

Just kidding there Chris. I will up the anty to $4.00 for the video. Maybe if Jeremy and myself pool together we can get $10.00.

Posted by Phil Hill (Member # 371) on 07-01-2004, 09:26 PM:

And I seem to remember you driving me on that 4th of July from Henry's Farm near Rockford to the York Theatre in Elmhurst at about Mach 6 to get it done before that 6000 foot reel ran out(85 miles no less!)! We lived to tell about it I guess....
Was that the 4th of July that were we using the Super Cinex to show films on the side of Henry's Barn? We did that on a number of 4th celebrations... but I can only remember how good the roast pig was there.... yummy
!
Mark
Posted by Steve Kraus (Member # 476) on 07-02-2004, 12:44 AM:
The Super Cinex was a James Bond operation. Not sure which year that was.
OK, I'm appointing myself Jen's agent. We don't do wet T-shirts or running showers but we'll take Phil's $10.27 and $2 from Gordon, $3 from Jeremy, $4 from William, and $10US from Paul. The shiny new quarter? My commission of course. Twenty-nine bucks to stand behind a curtain...not bad.
But professor... WHO threw the pies?
Oh, I threw the pies!
Posted by Jennifer Pan (Member # 2035) on 07-02-2004, 04:04 AM:
Ya know what.... I gave the wet T-shirt idea a thought.... and my decision is....
No. Plus I don't think I actually agreed to take a picture of myself looking out from a shower curtain in the first place... But I have an idea who can take the pic... hmmm... Joe? But that also means that none of you guys will ever see the picture.
Posted by Joe Redifer (Member # 3) on 07-02-2004, 08:06 AM:
Sure, I'll take the pic.[av=z]
Wait... just one pic? What about the video we planned?
Posted by Steve Kraus (Member # 476) on 07-02-2004, 09:24 AM:
She's coming for you, Joe. Better have her sign a prenup or you won't know what hit you.
Posted by Jennifer Pan (Member # 2035) on 07-02-2004, 01:07 PM:
Ummm... Steve... I think you missed out on the old tabloids. Cuz I believe I already signed the papers.
And I think it was my idea.
Joe: A video? hmmm... I think I can recall it was also supposed to be shot on 24fps.
Posted by Gordon McLeod (Member # 33) on 07-02-2004, 01:47 PM:
Na shoot it in IMAX HD (48FPS) only way to get all the detail
