Any body out there had a similar problem ,I have bought a second hand GSM Nokia 3315 Handset and tested the phone with my own SIM2 Card and it seemed to start and work OK , but there was no Signal Bars on the phone , so I checked the Network detect and chose manual but the Error "No Network Found STOP" came up each time , I then tried with my daughters Pre-Pay or "pay as U go" but got the same Error , I downloaded the unlock Code for the phone and it said that the SIM was not locked , the only options are a Hardware fault (but the previous owner reports no problems finding Networks B4) or maybe the handset is locked , so I took it to a service Centre and they report that it is not stolen , so only hope is to get my money back . [uhoh]

Is the phone compatible with the type of cellular network you're trying to access?

At least up here cell phones have a firmware chip that is proprietary to the network you want to use so say a motorola startac that worked on network x will not work on network y even though they sell the same model phone
Also up here if the phone was registared with a network as being lost or stolen its serialnumber can never be resurected in the network

Yes the phone is compatible with the Network and recognizes the SIM ok even a Globe SIM from the Philippines and works in every other way even games etc. but not able to make calls or receive ??? does not seem to be any physical damage ????

EDIT = update on the NZ GSM Network = visiting new zealand?
Vodafone New Zealand operate a GSM Network on the 900Mhz frequency. If you own a mobile phone that operates on a GSM 900 network and is not locked to your home network, you should be able to use your phone on our network.
If you have been set up to Global Roam to New Zealand you will be able to switch on your mobile and use it just as you would at home.
Alternatively, you could purchase a Prepay connection pack for NZ$35 from a Vodafone store in New Zealand. This will provide you with a SIM card and up to $15 in airtime credit. We suggest you speak to one of our sales representatives to find out which option would best suit your needs.

Yes maybe the answer , I used to have a Telecom handset and my wife Vodafone and I always had the best reception . [beer]

Same situation here in Australia. Telstra has the best coverage overall.
