Found this in the Anime Nation anime forums.
A Reuters report from London reads:A British man who accidentally shot himself in the testicles after drinking 15 pints of beer
was jailed for five years on Tuesday for posessing an illegal firearm, a court spokesman said.

David Walker,28,was arguing with a friend at a pub in South Yorkshire, northern England, when he went home to get his sawed-off shotgun which he placed in his trousers.

But as he walked back to the pub,the gun discharged, blasting pellets into his testicles. Doctors removed what remained of his testicles during emergency surgery.

Walker admitted posessing an illegal weapon in June at the Sheffield court.

There was an item on BBC Radio 4's Feedback programme today, congratulating the newsreader who managed to report the story without bursting out laughing. She said that it was the most difficult story she'd had to read since one which mentioned the leader of Papua New Guinea's armed forces, a general Jack Twatt! If you click on 'listen again' you'll be able to catch it for the next week; it was the very last item on the programme, I think, so move the slider towards the end once the streamed audio starts playing.

The jail time after shooting his own nuts off seems to be cruel and unusual punishment. This dumbass has suffered enough.

No, jail. After all, he clearly is an idiot, imagine what could have happened if he had made it to the bar with the shotgun.
Does deballing also make you impotent?

If both testicles are lost, you will be impotent. Most of the testosterone men carry is produced in the balls. Without them you're not going to have any sex drive. Even worse, you have other possible, bad side effects (I did a quick Google search on the subject, under testicle cancer -the most common way a fellow will lose his nads). Without testicles, you'll be prone to symptoms Women suffer in menopause like hot flashes. Depression is common. Also without testosterone, your chances will be higher to develop cancer and osteoporosis of the skeleton.

Since this guy used a shotgun on his crotch, he probably caused irreversible damage to other areas of his reproductive system, such as the lymph nodes and nerves in the groin area which allow you to climax normally rather than leak sperm into your bladder. So even if doctors were able to salvage one ball, it probably still wouldn't work for him.

This story reminds me of that testicle cancer support group in "Fight Club."

It's a good thing I'm here to set you all straight (Phil, Manny, Pravin, etc. not withstanding...)

quote:
According to Tom Burnham's Dictionary of Misinformation, a common misconception about eunuchs is that, since they were castrated, they were unable to defile or perform sexual intercourse with the women in the harem they were employed to watch over. This was not always true, however. If a eunuch was castrated after puberty, which was common, he would still be able to achieve an erection and engage in coitus, though no pregnancy could result. According to Burnham, many women preferred eunuchs as lovers since they never ejaculated and could, therefore, maintain erections longer.

I doubt you could set me straight but I'm open to discussing it.

Not here, though. [Wink]

I dunno, the eunuchs story sounds kind of fishy to me, particularly the eunuchs lasting longer part. Low testosterone is one cause of impotence. Men who have had one or both testicles removed because of cancer often need testosterone hormone therapy to achieve lasting erections. This is the step urologists usually prescribe to E.D. patients after having them try using drugs like Viagara, etc. Hormone therapy can be pretty expensive, and has its own set of health risks.

Yeah, in the more conscious respect of you knowing you're a walking eunuch. The depression I mentioned has more to do with your body being thrown into hormonal unbalance. We joke about women with P.M.S. and their mood swings. And hysterectomies are common with women going through menopause for the raging mood swings they can experience (along with other problems). The human brain depends on maintaining a certain chemical balance for proper mental function. If the normal level of hormones are suddenly distrupted, you brain reacts in some uncontrollable ways.

No, Manny, the only way you could be repaired would be with an update to your firmware, an area I'd rather not go near.

I'm not so sure it would be a "repair" since there's nothing wrong with me.

All the same, I got a good laugh at the "firmware" remark.
