When I came to the US last year, I looked for an electronic handbook that I could carry around with me to look up terms I didn't know in English, and I found a CD-ROM containing 24 volumes of US Navy Electrical Engineering Training for a ridiculuously low price http://www.tpub.com/cds/neets.htm
There is a lot of navy-specific stuff in there, but also a lot of general information, and it is well written and organized.

Thanks, John!! AllAboutCircuits is great, but I was specifically looking for the last link you posted. I remember coming across it a while ago when I did a Google search, but I couldn't find it today. I don't remember the exact phrase I originally Googled. Once again, the Human Search Engine has saved the day! [Wink]

Look into one of the Science Fair Electronic Experiment Kits from Radio Shack. Youd be suprised what you can learn from this "childs toy"!
