OS/2 Warp.

Eek.

Its a long, long (long) time since I was an OS/2 user. But it is a crazy operating system that allows you to write a SMTP mail transport agent in its scripting language (rexx).

Today its xp pro with virtual PC running linux, DOS and Windows/98, all simultaneously on the cheapest laptop money could buy, and I dont miss OS/2 at all.

W98/SE. I resist upgrading until I absolutely have to. I particularly resent product activation and the likelyhood that this is the first step to changing the business model to where you cannot simply buy software but must subscribe and pay forever.

Yes, yes, Linux and Mac. But easier and cheaper to go with the flow. How many billions could Apple make if they made a Mac OS for the Intel platform?

I guess one of these days I'll have to buy a Mac. Anyone know of some good capital improvement loan deals so I can get one of those dual G5 2.5GHz towers with the new 30" widescreen Apple Studio Cinema Display (complete with the $600, 4-head GeForce 6800 card required to run it)?

P.S., what do you have to eliminate from that stupid code to make the phiggidy Mac OS X thinggidy appear? Or do I just have to take a screen shot and upload it here myself. BTW, I'm viewing this in page in Mozilla. I wonder if that's part of the problem.

The Hurd was going to be the kernel of the GNU Unix-like operating system, but some bloke called Linus Torvalds wrote a kernel thing that worked well enough, and the rest, as they say, is history.
