Okay, I don't want to freely admit that I watch MTV still. But let's just say I was flipping channels and saw the new Avril Lavigne video for "My Happy Ending". I noticed at the beginning she is walking down the street. Then she goes in to what is clearly a closed movie theatre. Then most of the interior of the video is shot in what looks like that theatre.

First, has anyone else seen this (fess up)? Do you know what theatre that is and if the video was truly shot inside?

I just am rather curious. I am also prepared to be pelted with rotten eggs for posting anything about Avril Lavigne. [Smile]

I've seen it. I'm guessing it's a movie theater in Toronto or a surrounding city.

Avril Lavigne. I don't know why, but the name seems like a technical term for some part of a vagina (even though it isn't).

She's a young female rock singer who actually keeps her clothes on. She's not bad, actually. Compared to all the Britney Spearses and the like, she's a breath of fresh air.

I don't follow bubblegum pop, but from my limited knowledge Avril is the one who wears bunches of dark make-up and sports a 'tude and I'm pretty sure she hates men and life and all that fun stuff.

Actually, that and Sk8ter Boi are the only two songs I know of her. She's kinda cute, but not my type. I'm not a fan.

I really like country music and hard rock. Now Amy Lee from Evanescence is a hot rocker [Smile]

I'm not into bubblegum pop anymore either. I like Lindsay Lohan's music because alot of it is towards the rock genre. Hillary Duff has a few good songs too. She's just really hot.

Why I go to such lengths I don't know, but I subjected myself to Much for about an hour so I could see this video.

I have no idea what theatre it is, but it, like everything else in the video, is in Chicago somewhere alongside the "L".

If it's in Chicago, I've probably seen it. Post a couple of screen captures and someone should be able to identify it.

Or hop over to Cinematour and see if you recognize it.

There aren't really many right on the El, but there are a few. If it's a HUGE theater, the Uptown comes immediately to mind. The Chicago is also on the El, but it's open as a PAC.

It's on the corner of the block and didn't appear to be too large. Nothing too fancy. Actually it was quite plain, with only a 3 or 4 line mylar board on the canopy.

I really can't think of anything in Chicago that fits that description. Maybe some other city with an elevated train?

Possibly. It's been at least five years since I've last been to Chicago, although it did look kind of familiar. It's definitely a US city.

Having now viewed the video ... it definitely looks like Chicago, but I've never seen that theater before.

I have a feeling Ron is right. Avril is Canadian, I get the vibe she likes to represent where she's from. And it will most likely be Chicago as Adam was saying. But food for thought... "I blame Canada" [Big Grin]

Thanks for posting those screen captures Adam.

I was doing a little more research about this on the internet (wasting more time on this than I probably should). In some obscure forum, there was someone saying this video was shot by where he lives. And his profile said New York. Of course he didn't list the name of the theater, nor did the forum go on to discuss the shoot location. It was mostly people talking about how cool she is. I knew then I had to leave.

I have not yet visited New York City, so I don't know what their "elevated subways" look like. Probably a lot like Chicago's El.
