STORY - Released in 1961, the Hustler is a film-noir adaptation of the Walter Tevis novel of the same name. Directed by Robert Rossen, the film examines that dark corners of "action rooms" (pool rooms where high stakes gambling takes place) and the people who inhabit them. The Hustler was one of the ealiest star turns for Newman, who played the title character, a cocky pool hustler named "Fast Eddie" Felson. The film was one of the most important movies of the early 1960's and remains a classic of American cinema.

Bob Watson is a Billiard Congress of America-certified pool instructor who is well known on the New York Pool scene. Bob is currently the house pro and general manager at Play, an upscale poolroom in queens, N.Y. He was previously affiliated with Amsterdam Billiards Club and for several years ran the Pool School at Slate Billiards. Bob has played professionally for over 10 years and worked as a staff writer for "American Cueist Magazine". He is currently seeking a publisher for his first novel "Painting on Green Canvas".
