Oh my, I'll bet before the night is out we'll have a thread titled Topic: Playgirl - the magazine(not a self description) from Phil. [Razz]

As Joe would say.. it's because you SUCK... [Smile]

I would indeed say that you suck but I'd at least need a frame of reference, to which your example of me has none. Anyway:

1) No. That is stupid. Internet porn is free and better if you need that kind of stuff.

2) I probably have at a friend's house.

3) The Q&A is funny (is that the Advisor?)

4) Lame. I hate airbrushed pictures. You've seen one issue of Playboy you've seen them all.

Jason, did the starting of this thread have anything to do with tonights episode of the Simpson's?

I dont subscribe or read. You can do a quick search on yahoo and get all the pictures, too softcore anyway to use them for anything.

Brad,
My "Becuase you SUCK" comment was directed to Jen..
Also, do not allow Phil to copy my style.. [Smile]

Joe,
Airbrush is true.. and yes, the Q&A is the advisor...

1) Subsribe to Playboy:
Nope. I had a subscription back in the late 1980's, and have some valuable back issues in the attic (I have the Vanna White one).

2) Actually READ the articles
Sometimes. But I usually went straight for the nudie pics. The second thing I would try to find was illustrations and cartoons made by any of my teachers or other members of the faculty at School of Visual Arts (guys like Harvey Kurtzman and Gahan Wilson were frequent contributors).

3) What are your favorite articles?
Once in awhile they would have a decent interview, such as this one featuring an interview with Robin Williams. Pretty entertaining. His riffs on John Houseman and the Juliard experience were funny as hell. Sometimes their features on new electronics or other gadgets were interesting.

4) Feel about the magazine, in general...
Playboy used to seem hip and timely, but I think it has lost its relevance over the past decade. It also started getting a bit creepy with the centerfolds having birthdays several years or a decade younger than mine. I guess if I picked up an issue now, Miss November would be young enough to be my daughter. Not good.

I know I'm gonna get flamed for this any second now, but: [Big Grin]

1: Used to, many years ago....;
2: Loved the articles! Read most of 'em; [Smile]
3: Loved the letters and humor articles the most;
4: Overall thought it was a quality mag.

But I really loved the cartoons in Hustler with the granny who had tits that looked like atomic bombs... [Big Grin]

And no, it wasn't a "phase" I was going through..... [Roll Eyes]

Edit: In five, four, three, two, one.......

Ah, Jason, You must not have heard of this new invention called a tivo.

This summer I found about 20 old 1970's Playboys at a garage sale for super cheap. I bought them because a)one had a David Bowie article and b) I was hoping to find some 1970's porn movie reviews in there (I somewhat collect 1970's porn movie posters).
Now my boyfriend has them all. No big loss to me since i'm sure that if you see one bush you've seen them all [Smile]

Posted by Joe Redifer (Member # 3) on 11-15-2004, 02:45 AM:

No, some bushes are trimmed differently than others or are missing altogther! Some engulf the entire underside of the woman something fierce (I haven't encountered that yet, fortunately). But still, Playboy's depiction of women has become boring.

Also, Tivo sucks. You have to subscribe. Better to build your own PVR. Cheaper in the long run and ten million times better.

I used to subscribe. I quit in probably the mid '90s. Although I like a good nude picture as much as anyone, they did begin to all look pretty much alike after a while. I actually got to where I would pass over them because they got sort of monotonous.

I really did enjoy the articles. The Advisor was my favorite thing to read, followed by the music and movie reviews. The interviews were very good. I remember reading the one where Jimmy Carter admitted "undressing women in his mind" or whatever it was.

I guess my favorite pictorial was the Jessica Hahn one. Since she was supposedly a religious person, I guess the "forbidden fruit" angle attracted me. (Plus she WAS gorgeous.)

Haven't looked at an issue in years, but I'm sure it's still a quality mag if you like that sort of mag. It sure beats the hell out of Hustler. I always felt Playboy was classy, where Hustler just felt dirty.

I just got a thing in the mail for 12 issues for $10. Maybe I should subscribe and let my mail carrier know im a pervert [Razz]

=TMP=

I don't know if they still do it, but when I had a subscription the magazine would arrive in a black plastic sleeve simply labeled "PEI Enterprises" or something like that.

I'll second Joe's observation about bushes. Not all are alike. I saw lots of different ones in art school. Some had "treasure trails" that began at the navel and went down. These days the shaved thing seems to be the status quo. It's almost as if the bush thing has turned into a fetish. I'll only call it a fetish if you like a woman with hairy armpits, hairy legs and an overgrown naughty region.

The mail carrier would know what a Playboy is delivered in. They rummage through all of your mail anyway.

Some chicks like to shave their fuzz as a downward pointing arrow, a lightning bolt, an exclamation point, a star, or most commonly just a simple mohawk stripe. I've never seen it go up to the navel, though. That would be teh nastay!

Guess you haven't seen any 70s porn have you Joe? [Smile]

Re 70's porn

Some years back I found a porno trailer in a theatre which had been a porn house back in the day. (No, not a sleazy downtown barn but a genuine suburban former "Jerry Lewis" family cinema which makes it all the better. [Big Grin] ) The trailer is for the movie Chopstix. I consider it to be a significant artifact since porn is pretty much just video nowadays (even if someone were to shoot film for the look it would be 16mm and go straight to video) so 35mm porn is definitely a museum piece. Color isn't too terible for SP stock.

Oh, not only did she have the treasure trail from the navel, she had curly black hairs around the areola on her breasts. That may not be quite as bad as curly black hairs in the cleavage, but it is still "teh nastay." What seemed frustrating was this lady was very attractive otherwise (pretty face and really nice body), just a bit too hairy for my liking.

I'm glad I was just drawing her naked in class rather than having an awkward surprise with her during the latter part of a date! That would be kind of scary. Imagine you're making out with some lady and your hand gets under her shirt. You feel hair coming out of her navel. That might make you wonder what's really down below in her pants.

Bobby, are you sure that this person was BORN as a female?

Posted by Mike Heenan (Member # 392) on 11-15-2004, 09:57 PM:

Steve I have found that most porn trailers seem to have good color compared to regular movies, it's strange. Maybe they were never sent back to NSS and most were just stored in the theaters? Fortunately alot were printed on Fuji it seems, which holds up better.

Yes. Absolutely sure. She definitely had female hips and hands.

Apparently you haven't been to Mexico yet!

I used to like to read Playboy magazine, but these days I get all my visual and intellectual stimuli from this website.

NSS didn't do porn. Most were handled by Consolidated Poster Service.

Bobby,

So did that dude in 'The Crying Game'

Posted by Bobby Henderson (Member # 840) on 11-17-2004, 11:52 PM:

If the transvestite in "The Crying Game" had female hips then I-30 between Dallas and Fort Worth would be classified as curvy as hell.
