Removing the batteries worked. Nothing else would.. damn Microsoft..

I guess it's what I get for playing online at work, on a holiday no less..

I have a microsoft wireless 2.0 optical mouse. While online, the up and down movement of the mouse somehow has reversed itself so that when I pull the mouse down, the cursor goes up and vice-versa. Left to right movement is correct, just the up/down is backwards. I have checked and rechecked everything I can in the actual mouse settings and no luck.

Checked MS.com for updates.. what a joke.. no help there..

Rebooted the 'puter.. no help... unplugged the ps/2 and USB cabels for the mouse/keyboard.. no luck..

This backwards movement is driving me up the wall.. any help from you more knowledgeable gurus out there is TREMENDOUSLY APPRECIATED..

The only thing I know is that this happened within th elast hour and not a soul has been on my pc other than myself.. [Confused]

Hmmmm.... maybe try removing the batteries. That'll work, but nothing else will. Just call it a hunch.

I had the same problem with my Optical Mouse awhile back and be-
came so flustered with the thing I just about went wacko with the damned thing. Then a friend said to re-load the program
for it.... I dd, and it works just fine!

Reloading the software woudl havebeen my last resort. Turns out it was simple as removing/reinstalling the batteries.. [Smile]

Wireless sucks ass and anyone who uses wireless ANYTHING should be murdered slowly! I have a very hard time with preceision in Photoshop and whatnot due to the latency issues of all wireless products.

Of course I had my normal break.. 4-6,. then left at 10:00. We all brought an item to work today and had a great meal. The staff seemed appreciative enough and not a soul went hungry. There was a fried turkey, a roasted turkey, ham, pies, ckaes, rolls, and plenty of the regular trimmings for the perfect meal.. [Smile]

I'm now at home enjoying a piece of carrot cake and a C2... [Smile]

Our 700 set ROCKED today, other than that, pretty dismal.. [Frown]

Does anyone know of a wireless optical mouse that has an on/off switch? The only thing I dont like about mine (logitech) is that it stays on all the time and the batteries go dead really fast.

What kind of batteries are you using in it? My optical Logitech mouse tends to run 4-8 weeks on one set of batteries.

I use rayovac, they were on sale like 8 batteries for a dollar, and I get about 6 weeks, but it would be so much more if it wasnt on all the time when I am not home.

No, it wasn't flipped upside down, inside or, wrong side out or any other incorrect way.. [Smile]

Chris, those cheap Rayovac batteries may be your problem.

I've only put one set of batteries (Duracell) in my wireless in about 8 months or better.

I tried using a trackball about 8 years ago, when they first hit the scene.. I hated it then.. I hate them now. I prefer tilt wheel scrolling mouse. I bought this KB/mouse combo on sale and I like it thusfar. Battery life is great, the KB feel is good and I love the tilt wheel scrolling mouse...

Your milage may, and probably will, vary..

The only reason I asked is because I have seen some really poorly designed mice. (Apple's "Hockey Puck" mouse, for instance.) A poorly designed wireless mouse might give you few clues as to which way is up unless you look at a logo or something on the outter shell. If the mouse has seen a lot of use, the logo might be worn a way.

In a case light that, I can imagine how easy it would be to pick up a mouse the wrong way.

As a good real-world example of bad design, look at those super small Nokia cell phones. They're so small and non-descript, when you put it in your coat pocket and the thing starts to ring it takes you half a minute to fish the damned thing out!
