I should be going to NY for 2 or 3 days next week sometime to use a travel pass that expires soon. Last time I was there I ate at Famous Rays which I think was on or near Broadway and La Famiglia (sp?) which I cannot remember where it was, but both had great pizza. If there's better places let me know either post here or email to me, thanks!

I can't remember the specific restaurant names, but I've had great pizza at places in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn (neighborhood near the Verrazano Bridge), Coney Island and a couple spots along Kings Highway. Don't know about Manhattan though. So much of it is really touristy anymore.

'Famous Ray's is kind of a running joke here in NYC. Many years ago, the Daily News had a pizza contest and nominated Ray's (the real Ray's, at 11th Street and 6th Avenue in the Village) as best in NY. But the real deal is on 6th at 11th, and its hard to beat.

I would also commend to your attention John's Brick Oven Pizza on 65th near Columbus, and another personal fave, a real dive called Joe's Pizza at 233 Bleeker in the village. Strictly stand-up and no decor whatsoever, but the slices are to yell in the streets about.

I believe there is a John's Pizza on either 44th St or 45th between Eighth and Broadway. They do not sell pizza by the slice you need to buy a small pie. They have another store on East 65th Street between First and York.The pizza's are absolutely delicious.

P.S. Martini's go great with Pizza.

Chicago pizza is the only pie for me. Geno's East! (before it became touristy that is)

Ray's is worth it for the "OMG this slice weighs two pounds" factor, but I'd say the best pizza in NYC, hands down, is a place called Grimaldi's in Brooklyn. As an added bonus, it's right under the Brooklyn Bridge, so you can have a very nice walk before/after dinner.

Besides- Ray's on 11th and 6th is right across the street from Sammy's Noodle Shop, and you can't leave NYC without trying Sammy's.
