With all the actor's and actress's out there today along with directors who do you guys think is the most over rated?

I hear people say that Robert DeNiro is over rated, Al Pacino is over rated Sean Connery is over rated. I don't believe that these actors are over rated...The one person who I think gets more credit then they really deserve is Dustin Hoffman...Is he a good actor...yes...has he had some great roles....yes. But is he on the same level as DeNiro, Connery or ever Pacino...I don't think he is. What do you guys think?

I think Dustin Hoffman is a very good example. No doubt, very good actor with some great roles under his belt, but not very interesting anymore, or for a very long time. He really plays to the gallery way too much now.

ugh. even though she's not an 'actress', words cannot describe out sick I am of hearing about her and what she's wearing/who's she's doing/etc... I hurts me just to type her name [evil]

Colin Farrell comes to mind as well...but not as much as the one I just mentioned

Queen Latifa and Bernie Mac (he isn't a good stand up comic and isn't going to make is as an actor). Tom Cruise is another I could do without (he's too self-absorbed to be believable in any role).

Hillary Duff by far. On a different note, someone who needs and deserves a TON of recognition is JOHN C. REILLY! When are people gonna get he's one of the great actors out there?

Hey, I love Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn! I think they are really funny. Speaking of which, I just saw Stiller in "Meet the Fockers" and realized that I might have to tone down my earlier statement about Hoffman. He delivered a really fine, not over-the-top performance there.
What kind of name is PARIS HILTON anyway? Sounds to me like MARRIOTT HOLLYWOOD or something like that.

I agree that JOHN C. REILLY deserves a lot more credit... great "new" actor.

Paris Hilton sucks... literally.

I do like Ben Stiller ... didn't used to like him in his TV show, but his films are really funny.

Jim Carey was only good in Dumb & Dumber...

In my opinion Jim Carrey is underrated and struggles with typecasting. He was fabulous in Man on the Moon and Truman Show. He has done well in many others as well even though the movie may have been bad. We are discussing "acting" right, not whether or not we enjoyed the film in question. My measure of that is if I believe the character they portray.

Over rated...Halle Barry (did not deserve an oscar), Woody Allen and Hugh Grant (always the same character)

Vin Diesel over rates himself. He has ridiculous demands for salary.

There are many others both over and under rated that haven't leaped to mind yet.

I agree witht he above coments about Jim Carrey. I rreally like him in his dramatic roles but his comedy went stale a long time ago.

Overrated: Frankie muniz, vin diesel, Snoop dogg,

Underrated: Jeff bridges, Johnny knoxville and John Goodman.

Well, Im not sure what all of that is supposed to mean but Jeff Bridges and John Goodman have both played a lot of diverse roles very well. However Goodman seems to only be casted is supporting roles and Jeff Bridges jsut doesnt seem to get casted in anything very often. Johnny Knoxville has a lot of raw talent but it will be hard for people to stop thinking of him as the "Jackass" guy.

Since no one has mentioned any directors yet, I'll offer two names: John Woo and Michael Bay.

Sure, after "Pearl Harbor" and "Bad Boys II" it's easy for people to knock Michael Bay now. Yet the movie studios are still handing him big budgets for new projects. So he must still be held in high regard by more than a few people.

Then there's John Woo. I just don't get the whole fan following this guy has, especially among directors like Robert Rodriquez, Quentin Tarantino, etc. Woo is just no good at all in telling a story. He doesn't make movies. He only strings together a bunch of would-be cool looking images in action sequences. After the gawd-awful "Windtalkers" and "Paycheck" maybe some might start seeing the problems I've had with his shows for years. "Face/Off" was on HBO a week or so back. It didn't seem quite so bad the first time I saw it several years ago, but this repeat viewing was just damned painful to watch. I couldn't get through more than a few minutes without turning the channel.

I think George Lucas is massively underrated. He used to be great in a role masterminding movies, bringing talents together, like an artistic executive producer, but these days it seems he has to earn his living by writing second class scripts and directing animation movies. Why is that?

i'm not much for the whole "celebrity" thing... so really to me, they're all over rated...
