So, what did we learn about Scott?

He likes rears? (Oh sorry, he said ears!)
He likes cream?

What the heck was that drink?
Was that Gandolf at the restaurant?

He did make a valid comment about the Bidet. Why wasn't it directly next to the stool. You could work out your water temp, while doing business.

First off: the restaurant in question is Quark's, a regular haunt on the Film-Tech ShoWest tour. The characters mingling with us were from Star Trek.

Second, the drink in question is called the 'James Tea Kirk', one of the two gigantic high-octane cocktails (The other is the 'Warp Core Breach') available at Quark's...

I am actually amazed at how un-drunk I appear in the video. I'll make 90% of those comments without having first consumed a giant fish-bowl of alchohol, not to mention the last 1/5 of whatever was at the bottom of Kat's fish-bowl (the Warp Core Breach).

I watched the vid over and over again just to make sure I didn't come off too terrible in it. I did realize that I do swear a lot... and that my sense of humor does revert to that of a 7th-grader.

I just hope somebody more film-able is at ShoWest this year so Brad will follow THEM around all night.

Imma go hide now until more comments are made.

Although I have to hand it to you for getting ANYTHING to come out on tape while shooting under those conditions, I must register my constructive criticism.

15 minutes was way too long for such a (physically) dark picture. One might be able to deal with a few minutes of darkness but when only a few minutes worth out of the whole lot are actually visible it gets pretty boring to watch.

You, the camera man, and those who were there can fill in the details of the events from memory. We, who weren't there, simply get bored.

Possibly, you could cut it down to the lighter scenes and only a few minutes worth of the dark ones. (Like when the waiter brings the drinks and comments to the camera man, "Why are you recording two-dimensional images?")

My second suggestion would be to use your video editing program and crank the hell out of the gamma settings (or whatever) to artificially lighten the image. Yes, the image would be grainy. Of course, color and contrast would go out the window. But, if the image is too dark, you don't HAVE color or contrast anyway. I would think that a grainy, low-contrast image is better than none at all.

Overall, it WAS a cool video.

Maybe someday, I'll be able to go to Vegas and join the party. First y'all will have to help me with three things:

1) Cash flow issues.
2) Time off from work.
3) Convince the wife to let me go.

(Not necessarily in that order. )

Nobody said it was some kind of professional production guys. It's not supposed to be anything more than silly Scott Neff fun. A lot of it was shot with a freakin' dome light in a car as the only available source of light too. Still, the image is plenty clear on my monitor.

Looks great on my monitor in full screen with the lights off. The restaurant is that dark in reality. Could I look anymore conspicuously dorky than I do when Scott is finishing off the blue bowl??

My favorite shot would have to be the one where you could actually see the coffee grounds being hurled at Kat.

Sounds like y'all had fun though. Where's the link to the vid Brad?

Also, I've been to Quarks and through the "Experience" twice, got my pic in the Captain's chair, too! The food was great and the atmosphere was too. I'd recommend this to anyone, fan or not. It has to be seen to be believed. A dream come true, God bless Vegas!

For the next F-T sojourn to Quark's, I suggest our new monorail service that now runs between the MGM Grand and the Sahara with stops at both Bally's and the Las Vegas Hilton. Especially the Borg train, one (I think) of the nine trains currently running. Station announcements for the Hilton are handled by the Borg, and the station itself is right outside the SpaceQuest casino and Promenade. You will be assimilated.

Yeah -- it did run a bit long.

As for dark -- it didn't seem that dark to me. Perhaps if you downloaded the smaller versions it might be difficult to see. But really... what was there to see? Me with a fish bowl on my head.

As for this years ShoWest -- we'll work on the Olpin Experience. And maybe we'll find a cam and we'll make a Brad Miller Experience and feature it over at Cinematour.

I never understood what was funny about the Crocodile Dundee bidet scene. Of course I had no idea what a bidet was at the time (something foreign, I presumed) and the washing the backside comment seemed logical, not funny. Where was the humor? Australia sucks and should be nuked.

Brad hates being on camera. All the more reason for others to make a Brad Miller video!

I second what Matthew says! Australia is a great place to live, after watching Bowling for Colombine I like living here even more. Joe don't forget that movies like Crocodile Dundee were made to appeal to Americas and the rest of the overseas market,and so really made a big thing of the typical Austrlian stereotype. Just like that Simpsons episode where they come to Australia, mind you that is really funny. I love the line where Lisa says These are called bull frogs, and the Austrlian guy goes Wow thats a funny name, I would of called them chuzwozas. But anyway will let everyone get back to the topic!
