There's an article on Mark Cuban and his vision for digital projection in this month issue of Wired magazine.
Pretty interesting stuff and worth a look see.
My only complaint with the writer (Xeni Jardin) is he says with digital projection there will be nore more out of focus projection, bad sound and scratchy films after long runs! Wonder when he was last in a theatre?

Whether it's digital or not has absolutely nothing to do with lenses. Those scratched, filthy prints are from houses that either don't give a fuck or can't because of restrictions from the company. Digital will just be done wrong there too!
The equipment will still need to be carefully cleaned, tweaked, and maintained, otherwise you'll get jittering, skipping, and who knows what else.
On top of all this, the sound system is still dependent on whatever the theater pays for. If the theater's too cheap to buy decent SR equipment or properly install their digital equipment, running an all-in-one box is just a band-aid fix.
