In the latest issue of HDTV Orgasm, Kodak ran the following ad:

That's great and all, until I noticed one of Kodak's main points in the ad:

Last time I had my eyes checked, I had 20/90 vision. And that was my good eye! My other eye (which is the dominant one) cannot discern the color green, even though green takes up twice as much bandwidth as red and blue. It also has worse than 20/150 vision and neither eye can be corrected by glasses or surgery.

If film sees the way I do, it must be awful!

So you have a bandwidth limitation... Have you tried upgrading?

The typeface in the Kodak ad is FF DIN.

It's all DIN all the time. Cuz only the cool layouts use DIN.

Sometimes I like to piss off folks and set things in Helvetica on purpose -or even go one better with Helvetica Neue. If I want to be an absolute jerk, I'll set the type in Arial! Arial! He said Arial! AIIEEEE!

Nice album of pics. But out of 153 slides, I still didn't see any photos of vomit-splattered pavement. Maybe I wasn't looking closely enough.

I personally prefer staring endlessly at backlit crt screens, and I think that all movie screens should be backlit crt screens, that we we can all be blind enough not to care one bit about the fact that we wont be able to tell the difference between video and film after a while.

Back in art school in New York, a few friends and I were taking the A train up to the Museum of Natural History for some class assignment. We noticed a huge pool of vomit right by one of the entries into the subway car. Sadistically, we got a few good laughs from people walking into the car and stepping into the vomit. Some slipped or skidded. Others noticed the pool before they stepped into it, but only far enough in advance to do a sudden hop over the splatter. We were a bit disappointed no one fell on their ass right into the pile.

There should be more vomit in movies. And it should be comitted to film, not videotape. Film will bring out the more subtle earthtones of the spillage, while brilliantly rendering the reds, yellow and greens of the not yet digested vegetables!

I bust out laughing really hard as I vomit every time. Vomit is flying everywhere which makes me laugh and vomit even harder! When the vomit finally stops, the luaghs die down and then the clean up begins, which makes me laugh!

What gets me to vomit harder? Vomit that gets stuck inside my nose!

For instance, if you eat a bunch of nacho cheese flavored Doritos® while getting drunk, vomiting won't be as pleasant and humorous an experience as it should be. There's always chunks of chips getting caught in your sinuses. Try as you may to only vomit out of your mouth, but some of the stuff is going up through your nose. The stuff is burning up there. So you have to sniff it back down. The slightly softened chip chunks hit the back of your throat. Gag reflex happens. More vomit! Yay!

I think my experience of this should be witnessed by 65mm film cameras. Not just 'scope, but true 65mm/70mm production!

You guys gotta do what fighter pilots do--get into bananas. They taste the same coming up or going down.
