Will wonders never cease?

I remember River Walk from the 1940's when it was just a picturesque stream with maybe three or four little barges festooned with flowers.

When I returned in the 80's and 90's it had blossomed into a waterway with long dinner barges, floating excursions serving hot meals to tourists, and many varied cuisine restaurants, some with live bands and dancing. The whole development was beautifully landscaped into a tropical wonderland.

So why not a fantasy filmworld to boot? Thousands of tourists are already there, and with all the offerings, they'd never settle for mere popcorn.

Sounds like they'll just be showing typical Hollywood movies.

When did this become a "special effect"?!?!

Great page they have, 11 pages of restoration photos and articles! I wish more old theatres had pages with that much detail! [thumbsup]

I didn't see any pics of the proscenium arch, new screen, or new booth. [uhoh]

Dan, the greater question is will they be using the organ, or will it remain eye candy?

On the Wurlitzer: I'm sure that they'll get that organ rebuilt and restored to its former glory days-being in such a huge auditorium and reverb count and timbre would be astronomical when that organ gets opened up fully.

Organs like that are never eye-candy or put out to pasture. They are put to use on a continual basis since people love hearing a good ol' pipe organ instead of the electronic/digital ones we have now.

They want to hear something REAL.
