I took this picture in March last year:

The view is from the Southern tip of City Island, looking South East towards Long Island. The island I am interested in is the very small one near the top left corner of the picture.

The 'Other Islands of New York City' book which I have doesn't have anything about it, Google Earth will show it if you zoom in far enough, but doesn't show a name for it. It is at: 40 degrees 49' 27.5'' North, 73 degrees 46' 29'' West. If you look on Google Earth and can see Belden Point on City Island, and Elm Point on Long Island, then it's the tiny white dot about half way between them.

There is some sort of square structure on it, a fort possibly?

Any ideas what this is?

The island itself is just a bunch of un-named rocks but the structure is Steppingstone Lighthouse.
