Unfortunately, I couldn't copy the topic from this issue of Boxoffice Magazine to this post, but I simply wanted to add this story to this section of the forum.

(Maybe, someone can cut and paste that article from Boxoffice Magazine for me..)

Read in the new June issue of Boxoffice Magazine that this individual, Larry Hansen has passed away last month, in April.

For the few of us who used to work for Excellence Theatres when the company was incorporated in 1988 from the old ESSANESS chain from Chicago when Alan Silverman took his father's company and headed west to the "heartland" sections of the USA.

Larry was a part of this in organizing this company.

I met Larry when the Excellence Theatres took over the Mann Theatre location in Idaho when Mann was downsizing and had to let go some slow towns..and Boise was one of those towns.. Larry was a very positive and very forward thinking individual who had the heart for all he had contact with.

Excellence Theatres was an interesting company, but wasn't destinted to continue very long...where in 91 Excellence Theatres was sold to Carmike Cinemas..where all who were attached with Excellence went different directions - some stayed within the movie industry (as with Larry moved up into the showmanship part of the industry, Tim Warner eventually became CineMark head,..to name a few..)

anywho...sad to see him go. A wonderful individual to be around.

thx-Monte
