Hi guys.
A friend came across a Sony XL-2100 replacement lamp for Grand Wega projection TVs at a garage sale the other week. I know NOTHING about things like this but here's my question:
Is there a sure fire way to tell if this lamp is bad? There is no way I can test it on a TV, since I don't have one. I don't see any black/burnt out parts in the inside of the lamp itself.
Any help would be

Unless he gets it cheap(at least 40% off), I would just order it from SONY or a dealer for brand new if he is intent on keeping this TV long.
The thing is even if works, how would you know how many hours are left in its lifespan?

thats kind of the point. Like I said, having no knowledge of those things, I didn't know if there was a way to know if the thing is even good. How many hours does one of those last, until it's time for a new one?
