Cinemark Inc., the nation's third-largest theater chain, has launched a second round of talks to acquire Century Theatres Inc., the country's eighth largest, London's Financial Times reported today (Thursday), citing people with knowledge of the matter. According to the newspaper, Cinemark attempted to buy Century a year ago but the deal fell through when Cinemark offered significantly less than the $1 billion that Century's owners had sought. The current talks could also fall apart, the newspaper noted, as they come at a sensitive time in the movie exhibition business, following last year's downturn at the box office.
