Why I love women...

1. They will always smell good even if it's just shampoo.
2. The way their heads always find the right spot on our shoulder.
3. How cute they look when they sleep.
4. The ease in which they fit into our arms .
5. The way they kiss you and all of a sudden everything is right in the world.
6. How cute they are when they eat.
7. The way they take hours to get dressed but in the end it makes it all worth while.
8. Because they are always warm even when its minus 30 outside.
9. The way they look good no matter what they wear.
10. The way they fish for compliments even though you both know that you think she's the most beautiful girl on this earth.
11. How cute they are when they argue.
12. The way her hand always finds yours.
13. The way they smile.
14. The way you feel when you see their name on the call ID after you just had a big fight.
15. The way she says "lets not fight anymore" even though you know that an hour later...
16. The way that they kiss after you have had a fight.
17. The way they kiss you when you say "I love you".
18. Actually...Just the way they kiss you...
19. The way they fall into your arms when they cry.
20. Then the way they apologize for crying over something that silly.
21. The way they hit you and expect it to hurt.
22. Then the way they apologize when it does hurt (even though we don't admit it).
23. The way they say "I miss you".
24. The way you miss them.
25. The way their tears make you want to change the world so that it doesn't hurt her anymore...

Yet regardless if you love them, hate them, wish they would die or know that you would die without them it matters not. Because once in your life, whatever they were to the world they become everything to you. When you look them in the eyes, traveling to the depths of their souls and you say a million things without trace of a sound, you know that your own life is inevitable consumed within the rhythmic beatings of her very heart. We love them for a million reasons, no paper would do it justice. It is a thing not of the mind but of the heart.
A feeling.
Only felt.

Let's not pick on Richie, now. I'm sure he posted this hoping that some girl would read it and see what a sweet caring guy he is and fall in love with him for it. Everyone knows that the fastest way into a girl's pants is to give her constant attention and compliments. Be sure to spend LOTS of money on her, she will be your's forever. Most importantly, never argue with her or call her out on ANYTHING. Doing such will be certain dating suicide and should be avoided by as much brown nosing as possible.

::sarcasm mode OFF::

For those of you who couldn't tell.

Nah. All men have their own geeky interests. Yes, the methods of film production and exhibition are geeky interests. So are video games, science fiction and the rock band Rush. The trick is never mentioning any of this stuff to females. And if they find out, those interests much be balanced out with cool interests, like electric guitars, shooting guns, welding and perhaps things like drinking beer and recreational use of illegal drugs.

Better yet, don't mention any of your interests at all! It's not about you! It's about her! Just nod yes or no to anything she says and try not to say anything stupid. Men are only supposed to be dicks with a pulse and paycheck.
[Smile]

I'll admit I'm guilty of having a stash of Rush albums and other geeky things. This is an image of a few items close at hand. I have lots of other geeky stuff up in the attic (baseball cards, maps, American and Japanese comic books, etc.)

Naturally, the inner geek is slightly counteracted with other more macho interests. However, the nerd inside can never be completely defeated.

Geeky guyness...? Notice Wow, my X-Box 360 controllers, and the 'shared pleasure' condoms that guys always tend to buy because they think they're being nice...
 -

And what makes me a girl... notice the extended pleasure condoms. [Wink] I was thinking about adding a dildo in there but I figured that would be a little too far so I'm just writing about it instead! [Big Grin]

Ahh so go internet relationships. As I've found out from match, it's best not to get too excited before you actually meet the other person.

So Mike, why don't you share some of your online romance tales with us?

In my experience it seems to be too difficult to get someone to meet you in person. I've only met one girl in person from the internet in all the time I have had it. As far as I am concerned if a girl is not willing to give you her phone # by the third email then she probably never will and certainly will not meet you.

You also have to realize that girls get tons of emails from random guys everday. Try setting up a fake myspace page, with no information, just a picture of a decent looking girl. Girls generally get one email for every 5-10 profile views. I get about 1 for every 1000 views and they are not the type of girl I would go for. The good news is that most guys just say something dumb like "hey baby, your hot." or "I'm new around here, want to show me around?"

I suppose on a pay service like Match the ratio is less, but you still have to be somewhat creative in your messages. I'm too cheap to try....

Posted by Mike Heenan (Member # 392) on 10-13-2006, 01:32 AM:

I did a 6 month stint on match and yahoo, and found out that match seemed to work better for me. Yahoo seems to be full of fake profiles, or the people do not pay for the service but can still access their account but cannot respond to emails. On yahoo I emailed back and forth with one girl and got all excited, and then after about 2 weeks of emails I finally said something like "here's my # let's get together for coffee if you'd like" and then she's all "well Im in a relationship I wish to pursue...". Although I still email with her on myspace I still have yet to meet up with her just as friends.

On Match, the first one I talked to on the phone gave me her # after 2 or 3 emails and we had a nice chat and were to meet up, but then she got a job offer in MN and said she didn't want to start up anything so we never met up. And yeah she actually did get the job as her profile changed a few months later (so she wasn't lying or anything). I went out with 2 other girls on match, and in both cases I got really excited after the first meetup as both went really well, but in one case I got the "lets be friends as I dont think you're ready to drop everything and run away and travel with me yet", which is ironic cause since then she's said she wont travel without her dog, so she can't exactly drop everything and leave herself? (she wants to do a peace corp/volunteering gig in addition to taking some months off and seeing the world). In the other case which I felt more confident about, she said our interests were too different, which I felt was a crock of BS.

I learned that's its best not to get all excited like Richard did earlier in the thread as he said he hadn't even met her in person. I know I'm probably a bore even though I held the conversation up pretty well at all dates, but they could've been more honest about why they Didn't want to continue going out.

Never tried it, but I do know that it is discriminatory based on religion. The "personality profile" test is set up to see how similar you are to Ned Flanders. If you fail that test it will not let you create a profile. I fully support any private company or institution's right to discriminate on any basis, but they should at least be honest about it.

Here is a spoof commercial that Bill Maher did a few weeks ago. May be too political to post here.

Man I can't believe this topic is still alive...

Sorry bout the lack of posting...lots going on...

Update:

She was scheduled to come down on the 5th...on the 3rd, she IM'ed me. I'll summarize what she said.

She first told me to stop making the plans.

Then she asked if I remembered me telling her to tell her friends about us. I did and then she said "I did and one of them told my mother"

So now her mother found out. She then said that her mom drained her bank account and told her that she flat out couldn't come down to see me. She said her mom would make sure she didn't leave.

I then told her that she still had a free ride down here.(No expenses for her unless she wanted souviners) She then said that she should be angry with her mom, but wasn't. and insisted that it wasn't her fault what had happened....riiiggghhhtt...

I told her that I was glad that I found out I was talking to someone who couldn't decide for themselves now than after she got down here...

So, basically I haven't heard from her since and really don't care. I'm pissed that the 3+ months I invested talking with her were for naught, but you write off your losses and move on.

BTW: I found the song "I Can't Hate You Anymore" by Nick Lachey describes how I feel 100%...Read the lyrics, it's really good.

So there's your update...I'll still be here to answer any questions about it...but as far as I am concerned, it's a thing of my past now.

So Mike, why don't you share some of your online romance tales with us?
Well, I did meet my wife online -- I had put a profile up on some service, but all I ever got were "penpal" type replies from women hundreds of miles away. Then Lynn wrote to me after the profile had been up for a year or more. (I'd almost forgotten about it!) She had to pay $15 to get my contact info.

She was only 100 miles from me so I decided to check out her reply. I remember being impressed with how nice of a note she wrote. I e-mailed back, and we got together 2 weeks later. We've now been together around 7 years; we got engaged one year after our first date and got married in June 2000. So the 'net CAN work. We still joke about the $15 price; I'm glad she thought I was worth that much before even meeting me!

Sorry it's not a more scintillating story, but it's the only one I've got! [Wink]
