I thought this would be a fun idea for a thread.

Here's the oldest picture of myself at the Roxy. That's me on the left...the kid with me is my second cousin who was learning booth work at the time. This was taken in 1977, two years before I bought the Roxy.

These are the only old pics I have of myself (available in digital format). I really haven't changed a whole lot (unfortunately), other than growing about 8 inches, 150 pounds, and now having facial hair. Everyone I knew from this period still recognizes me, even after many years.

Me, about May of 1978, at the Sky-Vue D/I, Winchester, KY. Look at the hair style! The bluejean jacket! I was almost skinny! I'd just changed over to the first reel of "Smokey and the Bandit" there on machine #1, and a Woody Woodpecker cartoon had finished on 2.

My souped-up '73 Ford Torino was parked outside the booth. [Big Grin]

I was in my junior year of high school. Life was carefree.

Very few photographs were ever taken of me, and most that were have been lost over the years; this is about the best I can find. It was taken on Ilfocolor; not a film I could recommend, Ilford really should have stuck to black and white! The film was sold process paid, and returned in a box, with a contact strip on 35mm unperforated paper rolled up in one end of the box, and the negatives, cut up and mounted in cardboard slide mounts, in the other; I've never seen this done with any other film. No enlargements were included, I think colour prints were quite expensive in those days. The negatives have faded badly, though the contact strip is even worse, the shadows were magenta, and the highlights green, and however much I adjust the curves I can't get the grey scale to track properly, this is a lot better than it was.

The same roll has some pictures of my sixth birthday party, the last party of any type that I ever attended. That would date this picture to about the same time, May 1963. That was the same year that I ran my first roll of film through a projector.

The man with me is my father, born in 1912, so when this picture was taken he would have been just over a year older than I am now; I find the thought very depressing. We do look rather alike, don't we?

This old Poloroid SX-70 picture of me was taken in 1977 when I worked at CANON USA. Thats a lens element removal tool stuck to my forehead... otherwise known as a suction bulb.

BTW Mark, I thought that suck-bulb looked like the mind-control-mini-microwave dish that ALL Cannon employees were required to wear 24/7 back then. [Razz]

Joe, I didn't take the photo with the Poloroid... One of the Japaneese techs took it. So you'd have to ask him why he had a Poloroid. BTW, when I workled there one of the Japaneese Techs and I became pretty good friends and I helped him go around and buy up every German camera we could find. Canon paid to ship and the duty on everyything an employee on tour in the US could take back with him. And no they didn't drive Japaneese cars... they all bought American [thumbsup]

No, Mark, that's not a wig. The only time I wore a wig back then was when I played this character...

Please take note of the official, promotional hat from the movie Take This Job and Shove It. On one particularly boring night off, I actually put on this outfit and went to the theatre where most of the staff didn't recognize me but those who did got a big kick out of it.

Sorry, but that wasn't in Ogden. At the time I lived in Southern California. The 70mm print and I were working at UA-6 on Pacific Coast Highway in Long Beach.

This is me when I thought I was in a band in the late 1990s...

Lord knows, I have sent Brad a shitload of pics of myself over the years for ID posting. But it seems like the "management" has their own ideas of what should be posted as my ID pic.

Oh, and, several were "modified" and posted in the past by the powers running this place. [uhoh]

While all in good fun, I think a thread like that would all be a replay of past pics and comments... [sleep]

Dunno, perhaps it could replace the soon to be closed 3-word-game v4.22 thread until the May version 5.1 next year?

Yes it is, Rick. For 19 months in '68-'70, I flew via helicopter all over South Vietnam installing and repairing fixed-base electronic equipment for the 518th Sig Maint Company.

Phil: One of the guys I was stationed with is the author Paul Michael Frazee. He has published several novels, the first of which is based on his experiences with 1SIG. He changed character names in the book but I knew the real guys. Google him up for a look at his work.
