Indeed. This happened Saturday or Sunday from memory. Very sad.

Anyone who hasn't seen Cinema Paradiso and is on this forum should be taken aside and slapped with a large feather.

Of course, there's more to Phillipe Noiret than just Paradiso...but it's my favourite.

So sad. A one hell-of-a-fine-actor. HE made "Cinema Paradiso"
as no one else could. It's a GREAT shame that pictures
such as "CINEMA" cannot be made in the U.S. as they once were.
Now the industry is driven by GREED. Oh well, such is

I identified so much, as many others have, with his wonderful portrayal in Cinema Paradiso.

I am surprised, but it is indeed sad. "Cinema Paradiso" happens to be one of my favourites.

BTW, the story in "Cinema Paradiso" reminds me somewhat of my own story how I came to cinema (I was also a little boy back then [Razz]

).

Even though Phillipe Noiret had a prolific film career, "Cinema Paradiso" is the only film I saw him in. BUT! His performance (AND that single film) will forever be etched in my brain.

Gosh! What great actor for a great part for a great film!

Everytime I watch it, even though I've seen it dozens of times, I still cannot resist watching it "one more time". It STILL brings much happiness as well as tears of laughter and sadness to me! What a GREAT story AND film!

RIP "Alfredo"... Mentor or not, YOU not only inspired that boy, but me as wel!...AND perhaps many others!

Cinema Paradiso IS my favorite film. It inspired me the first time I saw it. One of those films that captures you so well you feel like you are there. Quite an accomplishment in itself considering it is in a foreign language, a different time and a part of the world I have never been to.
